Here I am on my Wattbike trying to get a workout in before bed. First the app logs me out, no prob maybe it’s time to update my password. Password reset and it won’t recognise my new password. I use a password manager and it is correct. Try again and I can log in. Get my route ready, let’s do this. Crashed about 2 mins in. Retry and same issue. The app has always been buggy and unpolished but this latest update won’t let me do a bloody ride.
I was going to knock a star off for some very occasional instability issues, but then felt the need to counterbalance the hysterical one star reviews from people who are more than likely using the wrong gear or old iOS devices and then blaming the app. Videos are mostly very high quality, come from a huge variety of places, and many are extremely scenic. Gradient changes are perfectly good and smooth (at least on my Wattbike). Workout importing is simple and works well provided you don’t use an event course. The support team is very responsive and helpful. This app is more of a ‘keeper’ than Zwift (good workout system but lacks variety after a while) or Rouvy (hate the avatars and its videos look odd) for me.
iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 16 with Tacx Flux S trainer. Garmin bike computer connected to show power and cadence. But not as a trainer. App lags badly on gradient changes. Even in reactive mode it appears to be going steady. Trainer is connected. Zwift works fine on same platform.
So much promise but so many problems. Takes days to download rides, constant connectivity issues. Such a shame.
Regularly freezes or crashes mid ride which is so frustrating when in the middle of a structured workout. Sometimes fails to upload to Strava too. No functionality to upload automatically to Garmin. Check online forums there are thousands of complaints with the app crashing and being v unstable.
Workout was a waste Grade simulator is rubbish, the adjuster doesn’t work. Metrics are hard to see. Ride section doesn’t work. Video even though I downloaded it was jumpy. Just a poorly executed product. Back to Zwift, Rouvy and RGT. This is a very inferior product.
Love the idea of training against real backdrops. Connected to the trainer no problem, but the I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for about 20% of selected area to download (why doesn’t it stream?) and gave up. Thanks for the trial. I won’t be subscribing.
I always struggle to get Fulgaz to “find” my HRM and cadence sensors. All other Bluetooth devices are off and still I struggle. Other apps I never had a problem with, they connected instantly. I even bought a new iPad (due an upgrade anyway) but it makes no difference. I really like Fulgaz for its choice of rides, but I can do without the time it takes to find my sensors. I lose interest after the time wasting and don’t bother riding!!
In my opinion FULGAZ delivers a real (and interesting) alternative to those days when riding outdoors is a less than pleasant experience. Real roads and rides across the world really do make your turbo ride more than just a chore to be endured rather than enjoyed.
Think this is as near to the real thing as you will get. Great for getting you through those days that you can’t get outside ( or like me when you’ve left it to late and it’s getting dark already). Cycle all over the world without leaving home - I’ve now added many places to my bucket list of places to visit ‘for real’ after using FULGAZ. Good Fabebook community too. Works well with Apple TV ( and anything apple- can’t comment on other tech). I’ve worked my way through most of my Wattbike free trials ( don’t need any credit cards for this free trial - you just sign up and ride ) and think this is the one I will sign up to.
