Description

Galaxy Physics in your pocket!
Galaxy Collider simulates the universe in your pocket. So brace yourself for the collision of the Milky Way with the Andromeda Galaxy!
Galaxy Collider simulates the physics of interacting galaxies by computing the gravitational forces between the stars and the heavy galaxy centers.
Galaxy collider features a high performance particle engine that can interactively visualize spectacular galaxy interactions. It uses OpenGL point sprites for rendering thousands of high-quality stars at high frame rates.
The parameters of the simulation, such as the number of galaxies and stars, masses, etc. can be changed interactively to explore the infinite number of possible interactions between the galaxies.
Galaxy collider uses the build-in accelerometer of IPhone or IPod touch to change viewpoints add real external forces to the simulation.

Galaxy Collider Reviews

Blinding.

I like this app a lot, I think. But I'm blinded by the white bar across the bottom. I hold my hand over it to watch but get tired of bothering. Hide that bar and I'll give it another try.

Touted controls nonexistent

I simply tried to slow the simulation down and there was no way to do it. It says in the help that you can tap on the upper left part of the screen to bring up the settings and that there is a slow motion slider somewhere. I tapped 1000 ways to Tuesday and no settings came up.I could not find The slow-motion slider anywhere and is not in the settings anywhere. So unless you just want to watch galaxies collide at top speed leaving you little or no Ability to see watch what's going on don't bother downloading this app!

Could use dark matter hall simulator

It's quite a beautiful and rather accurate simulation of galaxy mergers. In answer to two other reviews of the current version, there is an option to increase or decrease the amount of time between each reset, along with allowing the simulation to run without reset. Also, the disintegration of the galaxy occurs when the black holes at the centers of each galaxy merge and rocket into a random direction faster than escape velocity. This only happens in galaxy simulations with low or no dark matter halos. Dark matter also effects the shape and rotation of the stars, themselves. Without DMH, the stars will rotate as in this simulation, swirling like water around the central black hole, with the outer stars rotating significantly more slowly than the inner stars. With the inclusion of DMH, the outer stars rotate at about the same rate as the inner stars due to the gravitational influence of the halo. This causes the spiral shape and stellar velocities that are actually observed in spiral galaxies. Dark matter may also contribute to the shape or formation of central bulge in galaxies. Adding this feature (no idea how feasible from a coding standpoint) could potentially make this app more realistic that it even already is.

I don't think it was worth it

The galaxies that i set were the largest possible, i tried two at first then progressively got to 5 at a time. It was pretty neat watching them collide with each other. One of the problems i think it has is that after a certain period of time elapsed the galaxies would reset whether or not they had collided yet or not. Also after they collide completely the entirety of each galaxy disappears. Not trying to bash this app, it is interesting and fun to play around with but it needs some fine tuning and additional settings to make me feel like i didn't just buy an app that i will uninstall and never use again. If anything get the lite version and play around on it for free.

Amazing but could use more parameters.

Dude this is the best but on

I love this app I personally find it very entertaining! I would, however, like more options such as a much higher particle limit, Galaxy thickness and type, The ability to change constants such as gravity, speed of light, etc... I have also come across whet I think is a bug. If you let the simulation run for a long time all of the stars just suddenly disintegrate :(.

Worked for 1 day now it shows a black screen n it won't do anything

It isnt a game its a simulation

Its recommended that you get this app if you have a 4s or an ipad 3

Needs to keep settings

Besides the random crashing mentioned by others I wish the app would hold all my configuration settings when I quit (or it quits itself). Very nice when it works though. Thanks, Chris

Horrible

Logan McGrath on

Does not simulate anything more than a ragged, rapidly deteriorating cluster of dots and crashes randomly. Complete waste of time and money.

Not great, by a long shot

It seems cool, but I can't even put three galaxies on without the game freezing. It really needs work, but eventually it could be worthwhile.
