Galena Tours Reviews

Compressive info; NO AUDIO.

We were super sad that now that Galena is open again for business, the audio function of this purchased app didn’t work. The written historical information is great, but not what I expected nor was advertised. Seems like you’ve known about and been working on this since the Fall of last year. I would recommend you advise iOS customers of the problem until it is resolved so people know what to expect.

Audio Does Not Work

Looks like a very comprehensive guide, but the lack of functioning audio is a major flaw.

Audio not working on tour stops

Love the app. Great information, but the play button for audio on tour stops does not work. Is there a fix coming for this?

Audio on Street tours?

The play button on the tour stops where the map is included on the screen, i.e. Main Street, Bench Street, etc, doesn’t appear to function. I think we can see the narration to read on most or all tour stops; our visually impaired sister was loving the audio on Grant and others. The app introduction works great, as do all the history (informational) audios where no map is on the screen. There is a button for ‘show route,’ however, nothing to un-Show the map and route. Thanks for hints to fix! - we’re here in Galena ‘til Saturday.

Don’t visit Galena without it!

Great job Paula! We really enjoyed your historical commentaries! We wandered around and with your help took in all of the fabulous history of the city. We could immediately tell you were a teacher when we listened to the intro. Thank you!

Amazing Amount of Historical Research in a Well Designed App

I bought this App during our yearly trip to Galena. We have been on many of the tours of Galena over the years but this App exceeds them all in completeness and thorough research of the history, photos, and news articles about the buildings and people associated with them. There are 96 entries just for Main Street alone! Each one has text describing the location, date of construction, builder, owner(s), businesses through time, and related stories. The author reads the text to you so you can look at what she is describing. The photos show the current building and historical photos from the 19th and 20th century. The App worked flawlessly over three days I used it. Note it does require a data connection since the information is loaded when you select one of the tours and it first loads 24 locations. The audio and photos are loaded as you select each location. This occurred fast enough that it was not a problem for me. Even if you are just interested in a few locations, it is worth the price because it is so well done. It took an impressive amount of research to put this together and there is enough material to make a good history book on Galena. It would be difficult to find something that delivers so much value for only $3.99.

Great App even if you think you know all about Galena

We go to Galena regularly. Even so this app has taught us things about dozens of buildings we never knew. Well worth the modest cost. Highly recommended. Can't wait to get back to Galena and use this app to the fullest. J
