Gambit REPL FAQ
Is Gambit REPL free?
Yes, Gambit REPL is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Gambit REPL legit?
🤔 The Gambit REPL app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Please fix the bug in the BlueTooth keyboard where it sees a double quote as some UTC code other than the double quote.
It is not convenient to use the onscreen key to quote strings when using a keyboard. I have the Logitech Logi keyboard.
Helpful keyboard but otherwise disappointing interface
The custom keyboard that comes with this build of gambit-c is very useful, making most needed keys readily available. However, the file editor is rather awkward and basic, and the REPL is far more primitive than what comes with PC builds.
If you want to try the Scheme language on your desktop or laptop, definitely try out Gambit; it is one of the most well known and mature implementations and has a great interactive REPL. This mobile version was disappointing.
Fixed
This new release has fixed crashes on 64bit devices. It now works great on my iPad. Thank you.
Broken on iOS 8
Unfortunately the 7.0 update no longer runs in iOS 8. The app crashes immediately upon opening on both an iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. Looking forward to seeing the new features-- hope an update is quickly forthcoming!
Me
Would be way better if there were ways to (1) get sensor data and (2) networking connections out
An excellent app for an excellent programming language
This is a superb application for running the programming language SCHEME! It is well constructed, efficient, and a great learning utility! I would gladly give it a lot more stars than 5 if I could get away with it!

Update for larger screen size?
Nice app but it seems to be stuck in the iPhone 4 era, displaying black bars on top and bottom on my iPhone 5 screen.
I'm hoping for an update because the extra screen real estate would be very helpful especially in an app like this.
Great App; Another Port?
Best programming app I have used on iphone/itouch. Any plans to port Jazz Scheme? Since you ported Gambit, you'd probably be the best person to port the rest of Jazz Scheme. You could probably use existing X server app for the GUI stuff. Just a suggestion to make a really good app a great app.
nice package within the limits of the ipad sandbox
updated review: this is a nice toy, with the rich scheme functionality, but the interface is clumsy. Youhave to depend on the cut and paste to import files, the file editor is primitive, and I have trouble with cut and paste in the REPL window.
Does this app work in iOS7? I want to upgrade from iOS6 and I like this enough to want to keep this. The App site does not say specifically that this works under iOS7, or not.
Surprisingly complete R5RS implementation
This is surprisingly complete R5RS implementation for iOS. Seems quite able to support learning and practicing scheme programming and working through examples in such classics as SISC, Little Schemer, Seasoned Schemer, EOPL without the need to lug around a full laptop.
It will not disappoint.
