App not named properly per manual. App doesn't work. Can't create an account. Instead of following instructions in manual and using product, I get to enjoy a wild goose chase. The idiots responsible for GE app branding, manual documentation, and overall continuity in the user experience... well, they're too busy checking boxes to give a shlt.
Completely a waste of time. I didn’t have an account, but I tried to press join now, and it said forbidden. I’m sure everybody had this experience. 1 star. It would be better if this app was more functional.
This is by far the worst user friendly App I’ve ever come across. After several attempts to sign in and connect to appliances with all correct links, passwords, etc still no luck. What a waste of time and energy!
I found out this app is no longer in use from calling support. Not sure why the SmartHQ app told me to download this GE Appliances Connect app in order to use the remote features of my new oven, but here we are. If anyone is having a similar issue (getting a “forbidden” error when trying to create an account in this app), it is simply because this app is no longer available or supported. If you need to turn on your Remote to your Smart Oven, I got these steps from GE Support. Go to Settings on your oven > #2 WiFi > #1 Remote Enable (should now show it is “ON”). And that should be it!
As many others have said, unable to create an account. Known issue apparently GE is not going to fix!
Can’t sign in It says forbidden
The harvesting of data from my usage of the *very expensive* refrigerator I bought is of far more value to GE/Haier than whatever small features WiFi might unlock for me. But the app makes it impossible to create a profile in order to link the refrigerator. Therefore, GE/Haier is shooting itself in the foot. If I take the windows of the app at face value, the password needs to be *exactly* 8 characters. This is miles away from best security practices. I spent several minutes using a password generator to create something long and unique before I realized the 8-character limit warning was displayed. No company limits passwords to 8 characters in 2024–except GE/Haier. I’m not going to waste any more time on this since I can’t imagine there is substantial benefit to the appliance owner in using the app. But it gives me some dread about this purchase if this is representative of GE/Haier’s attention to detail.
The touchscreen on my new GE appliance literally told me to download this app by name. But as other reviewers have noted it doesn’t work. Thankfully another review pointed me to the SmartHQ app which does indeed work and connected to my new appliances successfully. Come on GE you can do better. Just replace this app with something that displays “Obsolete app. Use SmartHQ instead.” Would save a lot of time and frustration.
This must be a fake app because it will not allow anyone to create an account. Continue message of forbidden
