GedFamilies requires a companion program running on the PC to transfer family files to and from the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This program, GedFamilies Sync, can be downloaded free of charge from www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies.

GedFamilies Reviews

Doesn’t Work!!!

Tried to download & install GedFamilies Sync on my PC, but this did not work. Very frustrating! Why can’t they use the standard GED format without any further manipulation?

Not happy at all. (where is the choice for 0 stars?)

If you hope to use a GEDCOM file using only your iPad FORGET IT. You have to run your GEDCOM file through a converter on a ***PC! Why would I want or need to rely on a PC when my computer is an iPad? I really got screwed on this purchase. Too bad the developer could not have made this clear in the write up. USLESS APP!

Excellent App

This is another excellent app from Malcolm Green/Telgen. First Malcolm created Families which made it possible for a direct sync between Legacy Family Tree and the Families app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod. Families also makes it possible to sync from your iDevice back to Legacy. Now, Malcolm has created GedFamilies which makes it possible to sync a Gedcom file from your computer to the Gefamilies app or from the Gedfamilies app back to your computer. With Gedfamilies, you can carry your genealogy file with you wherever you go. You can add or change information in the app and sync the changes back to your computer when you arrive home. Worth every penny and then some.
