Geiger Bot is a companion app for Geiger counters, providing you with a toolkit for recording, mapping, analyzing, and sharing Geiger counter data.
Whether you need a numeric display for an old analog counter, mapping, graphing and extensive logging for even a digital counter, or online automated data sharing via Cosm(Pachube), Geiger Bot can be of use.
Geiger Bot just works. As soon as you start up the app, Geiger Bot will get to work without any configuration necessary in most cases. This is done using adaptive signal processing and your device's microphone input. Geiger Bot also supports a direct line-in connection via the headset jack for superior results.
To optimize accuracy it is recommended you place the Geiger counter's speaker by your device's microphone. Background noise matters much less than a strong signal from the Geiger counter's speaker.
Experimentally Geiger Bot now supports scintillation counters and gamma spectroscopy with isotope ID lists; it is similar in concept to the Windows programs PRA and FitzPeaks.
For more advanced users, Geiger Bot allows you to assume direct control of the audio engine parameters for signal processing. There is a console with detailed status messages to assist in troubleshooting. You can configure an offset count for your tube, the conversion factor, measurement time intervals, radiation alarms, and more.
Geiger Bot can also log a great deal of data to your device's internal flash memory, and send it as an email attachment in CSV format. With log sampling resolution down to 1 second intervals, you can import this data into a spreadsheet and produce very high resolution plots of radiation data. With an iOS spreadsheet such as Numbers, you can perform detailed analysis and graphing of logged data on your device itself.
Geiger Bot features an integrated mapping module for displaying your logged data with a false-color palette to highlight intensity levels of radiation similar to a thermal camera.
Further, Geiger Bot comes with extensive preloaded mapping databases:
1. Safecast.org - large amount of ground vehicle surveys (mostly Japan)
2. US DOE/NNSA aerial gamma ray surveys of Japan
3. USGS NURE aerial gamma ray surveys of the continental US
4. US EPA uranium mines database
All of this data can be displayed simultaneously.
If you encounter any problems or Geiger Bot has issues adapting to your counter, please email me and I'll try to get a fix into the next release.

It states thatGeiger bot needs to be updated. But it’s not letting me download the update or updates. Please help address and fix. I really do need access to this information. This is a wonderful app and sati light is very clear and correct. Most updated usually. I also need to keep track of things my Grandfather has in certain areas of the USA. He was Neil Armstrong CEO of NASA. He was also known as Rhino Rhyne In Wilmington NC. 💯🙋♂️ my name is Casey Admiral Pharr his grandson. I’m also part of the Army Corps of Engineers and this is how I kept track of certain elements inside of the earth on our property 💯🙋♂️👨🚀🌎🇺🇸👍
No good if you have iOS 16
This software is not compatible with iOS 16. It was easily worth a Jackson back in the day.......
App no longer works.
App isn’t supported in latest IOS.
Stopped working with iOS 12
It was a great app (was 5 stars)until Apple updated their OS without considering retroactive compatibility. It’s unfortunate that Apple expects developers to continually update their apps without taking any responsibility.
It’s happened before and will happen again.......
Works again with iOS 13.1! Great!
Works well - solid running app
Geiger Bot does what it says. It running perfectly with no lockups or glitches. A rare 5 star app.

This app works amazing good when configured correctly. I use a GS 1100a to drive a Nal(T)
crystal detector at 800 volts. And supply audio to iPad mic input with low noise audio cable and Peterson strobebosoft guitar (iRig) adapter. The iPad mic input inverts audio +\-. So, Geiger Bot sees signal inverted. To correct, rewire at audio input plug wire + for - terminals. Use Gamma Spectacular setting in Custom Tube menu.
Then, in Pulse Shape Training menu select 32 bit sample rate. Return to scintillation screen to view Gamma Photon Spectrums.
Works great!
I connected my Geiger Counter kit (from MightyOhm) to the iPhones microphone input using a home-made little circuit I found on the web. Ran this software, and it works as advertised, very nice! Even has a calibration for the GM tube I'm using (SBM-20), so I can get results in "real units", not just CPM.
If this app doesn't work for you, I'd suggest you do some research first on how to properly connect and use it before leaving 1 star ratings. The software DOES work, and works well, but you do have to know what you are doing!
My next project is building a a scintillation counter to try the Gamma Ray Spectroscopy out!
Thanks for a great app!
Does not work
The app doesn't work with geiger counter plugged in. And it seems the only thing to cause the CPM to go up is taping on the phone with my nails or loud noises. The place where i bought my geiger counter from said it was compatible with this software, so I'm just guessing this is a bug that the devs need to work out. It's sad I was really looking forward to using this app.
Amazing
Best app out their!!! :D
Sophisticated features, AND well documented!
I am embarrassed that I got this app for free. It's got a wealth of features and unbelievably complete documentation. On top of all this, I had a question about a GM sensor I wanted to use with this app, so I sent an email, late one evening. To my amazement I had a full reply from the developer when I opened my email the next morning.
This guy needs to start charging for this app, a lot. It's that good.
Five stars, no question.
