Description

I've always liked wearing a lunar complication on my Apple Watch. There is something both visually delightful but yet also slightly geeky about it. But I was unable to find a complication that provided an astronomically accurate moon display...which just kinda bothered me. So I made Geneva Moon.

Geneva Moon seeks to provide a highly accurate, visually pleasing indication of what the moon looks like right now, right where you are. My goal was to make it so that if you look down at your wrist and then up into the sky the images you see should match.

It includes a robust set of complications for every watch face type.

Choose between either a visually rich 'actual ' appearance or a more simplified version, to fit your own personal style.

The main display indicates the current azimuth and elevation of the moon along the horizon along with a visual indication of its phase and orientation.

Rotate the Digital Crown to shift forward and backwards through time and see how the moon will shift (tap on the screen to reset to now)

On Apple Watches equipped with a compass (Series 5) you can have Geneva Moon orient itself towards the actual moon to make it easier to locate the moon in the sky.

Thank you for considering Geneva Moon, I hope you enjoy having the moon on your wrist as much I do.

Stopped working properly

$ahh on

This used to be a good app, with an accurate depiction of the moon phase on my Apple Watch. However, the ‘actual’ depiction of the moon is now exactly the same as the ‘simple’ depiction - an inaccurate white crescent with zero moon markings. What once looked good, now looks crap. I have emailed the developer who has not yet responded.

Mostly accurate

UWCATPREM on

The app looks fantastic on the Apple Watch and most of the time the moonrise and moonset data is correct. However on occasions, especially at quarter moons, the data is one Day out. For example today is September 29, 2021 in London and the moonset data is for September 28.

Download from AppStore ON WATCH ITSELF

This fixes the common problem of apparent non-availability. Scroll down to ‘Account’ in the AppStore app on the watch and tap ‘Purchased’. Then you can download the complication to the watch. Why this is not explained beats me! Excellent complication by the way

Doesn’t install

iDHarron on

I purchased this app after great reviews but it hasn’t installed for me. The app appears just as purchased within the App Store but no option to install and from other reviews this is also happening for others. Very disappointed.

A great complication

philrlee on

This is a great looking and useful complication. It shows the moon exactly how it looks in the sky. The graphics are excellent with a lovely transition between the main and info screens. The new addition of full, quarter and half moon dates in the future are good too. A number of reviews say that it can’t be installed of it is bought on the iPhone. This is not correct. It has to be installed using the App Store on the watch. To do this, go to App Store, scroll to the bottom and select Account. In there, select Purchased where you will see the app listed.

Works fine for me

Downloaded today (6/10/19). Gave me information I required, which I followed. Didn’t seem to work, but I guessed it was not the developer’s fault. As I then restarted my watch and all fine. I have bought previous apps from this person so presumed it was a download error. This app is fine.

Same problem

Doesn’t appear on watch as an app and can’t be selected as a complication - broken

Works beautifully!

loupegarrou on

I see a few reviews listing this as a con, and saying the app didn’t show up on the watch or phone. All I can say is it worked just fine for me, and the app works perfectly. There is no app on the phone, only on the Apple Watch. All this does is add a complication to the faces and provide a very simple app. What it does, it does well though. The moon phase works perfectly and is more accurate than the stock complication. Certainly worth the cost for me, and the addition of an accurate and aesthetically pleasing moon complication is welcome.

Hasn’t appeared on watch.

I’m like the others. Ive purchased the app but can’t see any reference to it on my phone or my watch.

Not showing on Apple Watch

Mamaliga on

Not showing on my watch. Just says “Purchased” on the AppStore and that’s all. It’s a con in my opinion.
