Nicely put together app allowing numerous types of learners improve their geographic skills. Quite fun and challenging as well!

I feel so much more confident about my understanding of the U.S. now and it's still only the first night! I always wished I knew North America more, but it seemed like an impossible task due to the immensity. I've tried flashcards over the years but I find my mind wanders or goes into autopilot and I don't retain anything. Even after just one night... When I look at the U.S on a zoomed out map now I know all the tiny states and capitals of the north-east and I discovered so many cities that surprisingly weren't the capitals of various states but just the most populous/popular. Unlike so many geography apps this goes beyond multiple choice flash cards; it helps you truly learn how to memorise capitals and U.S. states via drag-and-drop. This method is much better than using flashcards (which, by the way, you shouldn't pay for *ever* as there are so many free options and apps out there) as you're training your brain and reminding yourself constantly of neighbouring borders and the shapes of the states. It gives you more ways to memorise regions by enabling visual or letter mnemonics. For example: I'll now always remember Louisiana kind of looks like an L, Tennassee is the "long thin state", Oklahoma is a finger pointing or holding a gun and California kind of looks like a C (bit of a stretch) or boomerang. I then group some states together that I constantly forgot: MIIIMA is Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Arkansas. Also, Vermont and New Hampshire kind of look like a mini-puzzle so I group them together. The rest are too square or shapeless so I just remember them due to repetition. You could memorise an entire continent's capitals via flashcards, but if they're just word associations you're still not going to be able to pinpoint them on a map. Since it's an assumption you love geography or wish to improve, I would say that being able to actually locate states, capitals, and cities when needed is important to you. P.S - Of course, it's also nice to know, with a little effort you could easily surpass a heap of natives in their own country and when it comes to trivia night everyone will want you on their team as you're the geo demon!

I can recommend this app as a good learning tool. The app is easy to use and has good support. I can now find my way around the US, Europe and Asia.

I am 20 and about to head back to Colorado for the second time this year and at the bible college I meet people from all over the states so I wanted to get a general idea of where people are from when I meet them, I didn't think learning them all would be so easy. But with the amazing layout of this app introducing a few states at a time then testing by placing on the map worked amazing for my memory! Thanks again!! Maybe you could add capitals next? Or things these states are known for? I am excited to get the full version when I have more iTunes money.

Awesome way to learn the geography of the world. Had all the US states firmly in my brain in 2 days. To buy all maps is really good value The Europe map needs to be updated so it includes the small countries such as San Marino and Liechtenstein. Not just the main ones. Also needs an Oceania map, including all the Micronesia Islands etc :)
