Description

The iGCT PRO app is a toolkit that focuses on typical tasks performed during geocaching. Tasks like making a projection from a waypoint, determining a new waypoint using two other waypoints, determining the distance to these waypoints, calculating the value of a Roman numeral, and averaging waypoints are examples of what the toolkit can accomplish.

Imagine it’s lovely weather and you are walking in a beautiful surrounding. Walking with an intention, because you are geocaching and searching for caches.

Picture you are at waypoint 3 of a multi cache and you’re asked to go to waypoint 4, which is 300 meter from this waypoint and 700 meter from the previous waypoint. Now what? Go home? Imagine you have a skilful toolkit with you to find your way. Imagine you have iGCT PRO, because you want to be ready for all these kind of challenges.

Buy it now for a fixed low price (no in-app purchase necessary), since you never know if you have internet access the moment you need it most!

A wonderful “Swiss army knife” of Geocaching tools

mckinney3 on

I love this app! This app is very useful in the field for solving cache puzzles and calculating projections and making conversions. But I found it the perfect set of tools for creating caches. The waypoint averaging tool for creating accurate Ground Zero coords is alone worth the price of admission. Whether for a single cache location or creating series of locations in a multi-cache, the ability to quickly obtain coords and average and save is a huge time saver. The ability to see the various readings with a nice graphic view really helps to see outliers in the data and edit. I also use the projection tool for creating bearing and distance information in designing caches. I just accurately (averaging) locate the various Stage Locations and then use the app tools to figure out the correct bearing and distance information that connects the waypoints. The ability to obtain, average and save the coords to a waypoint list is ideal for establishing general hiking trails that are not geo-cache related is a bonus. The app also has very good context related help information in addition to being able to obtain and print a full manual. The app tools us a well though out menu system. I also liked the ability to copy/save/paste information between app tools. It would seem that this tool is made by a geocacher who understands what geocachers really need to enhance this pastime.

Can’t change the directions

Phoenixlox on

This geocaching application for geocachers in the Northern hemisphere is absolutely useless because you can’t change the directions inside the application. I can’t change the E direction to a W direction to get a North/West coordinates for marking waypoints.

iGCT Pro much better

Bon Vie on

Tried the 'intro' version and was less than impressed. But eventually I needed to be able to enter long/lat and get a map to the location, so after about a year of ignoring the intro (and always meaning to delete it off my phone) I took a look at the the Pro version. It's definitely worth the $. I especially like the calculations page; very cool for orienteering or plotting for searches (geocaching, etc). It's not perfect, but it works.

Ok app

Valiance on

This is an okay app, but doesn't touch the functionality of the Droid GCC app. The waypoint projection function could use some work, such as allowing multiple decimal points and calculating triangulation of three known points with known angles and distances. I hope to see continued support and features.
