An limited app with too many issues and so much unrealized potential

I would say download the app and see if it meets your needs, clearly there are a lot of reviewers who love it. I may be cursed by being a UX developer of 25 years.
This app is generally "buggy" -- not in the sense of error screens but in UX behaviors that are problematic or illogical. Examples:
- it only accepts .txt files. it's frustrating to build my setlists in a rich editor (like Google Docs, Word, or even RTF files) and then be forced to export them as formatless text files. At a minimum it would be nice to allow PDFs because formatting would remain.
- after manually editing spaces out of an imported text setlist and going to Gig, then back, those spaces, and more, are added back
- almost every time I open the app and try to import from Dropbox, I click the import button and after the spinner goes away nothing happens -- just a blank screen. I have to "Log Off" and then try to import again, which causes an reauthorization and works
- the navigation buttons often do not work as expected. For example, if I'm in the import from Dropbox screen there are two buttons at the top: "Back" and "Done". Clicking "Done" does nothing on this screen, only "Back" works.
- the Gig feature (auto scroll) is a great concept but ultimately if you're gigging it's marginally useful because the scrolling happens at the same speed regardless of the length and speed of each tune (see below for a possible solution).
What could be:
- allow imports of formatted files like PDF, RTF or any type that allows keeping formatting (font size, bold, etc.)
- have some kind of song index available so that jumping to any tune in a set is a tap away
- fix the import process--if the only way you can figure it out is to force reauthorization each time then just force log us off and at least the "Import from Dropbox" button would do something.
- a monumental change would be to allow each song to have a BPM indicator so that the scrolling would match the actual song. Going further, special markup could tell the scroller to pause for a number of bars, for example where a solo goes. I realize that would require significant development. buttons at the top: "Back" and "Done". Clicking "Done" does nothing on this screen, only "Back" works.

Good so far
I have imported 100 songs to this app and so far everything is as expected. The scrolling works well. I haven’t yet made any set lists, but I’m waiting until after I upgrade to the paid version. I agree with those who have suggested batch importing, and I think direct importing from iCloud should be a priority as well. I would also suggest PDF support, since it seems a lot of musicians have song files In that format, particularly sheet music. Nevertheless, I’m satisfied enough with this app that I will be upgrading soon.
A Simple and Quality tool for Songwriters and Performers
This is a great easy uncomplicated app, a simple approach to organizing your songs and creations. Not only is it great for performance and focus , but collections of work in progress, ideas and set lists…and price is incredible fair
I highly recomend!
Love it!
Does what I need it to do and I’ve always been able to get in touch with the developer when I didn’t know how to work something. Highly recommend!
SUCH A USEFUL TOOL
I just loaded this app a couple of days ago. It had been years since I had looked for an app for scrolling lyrics. Quite a few years ago it was difficult to find a good one and I forgot about it until wanting to play a few new songs out and not having the lyrics memorized. I went to the App Store and looked at two different apps, and saw right away that they were collecting data from my usage and wanted to access my contacts list which I was not comfortable with. I took a look at this one, and noticed that it does not collect any data, which made me quite happy. I downloaded it and it took me all of 15 minutes to get the basics handled. I’m thinking seriously of paying five dollars and loading the pro version, one to get the other features and also to support the developer. I feel that someone who offers such a great program free deserves to be supported.
Vocalist’s Opinion
Just a few words to say how much I appreciate this app! I’ve used Gig Hard for both live performances and studio recordings for upwards of 10 years, and it has truly been a lifesaver. The bulk of my gigs are wedding receptions where I don’t usually have a lot of lead time that would allow me to memorize the lyrics, so having this app makes all the difference in my being able to perform unfamiliar songs with confidence. Like I said, it’s been a real lifesaver!
Finally a great app and intelligent support team
So happy to have found this app. And support team. Highly recommend this to all my musician friends. Thank you so much!
Great Product
Gighard really helps my performance when I go to Open Mics!
Gig Hard
Very easy to use. Even for me. So nice to go paperless, and to arrange songs in set lists. I would recommend this app.
Excellent app very satisfied..
This app is fantastic and when I had questions about migrating to a different phone the developer (Dante) answered in a timely manner and put to rest my questions.
He is also open to my suggestion of adding an option for attaching a “foot switch” to enable hands free song changes and scroll pausing (the next time the app is updated which would be a fantastic feature if implemented!)
