● GlitchBreaks is an addictively fun and very useful app that will appeal to electronic musicians in a variety of settings. it’s a serious tool for manipulating audio loops. - iosmusicandyou.com
● I've spent many hours playing with Glitch Breaks, cutting, and modulating my way to pure glitch bliss. It's unmistakable high quality, effortless interface makes it easy to forget the world outside and go full tilt boogie to your hearts content. -smitematter.com
Glitchbreaks uses four audio channels setup like mute groups. You can quickly switch between them to construct new beats, or manipulate loop points to “Cut” or “Glitch” the breaks.
Glitchbreaks can be used as a performance tool to juggle breaksbeats or destroy sounds at a granular level. You can make interesting effect-like-sounds by manipulating pitch, loop start, length, and cutting the beats with fluid responsive controls.
You can record your performance and bring it into iTunes through file sharing, or copy it out into another iOS application via Audio Copy and Paste. You pre determine the length of your recording by bars to easily make pieces to bring into a song without the need for further sample editing.
Auto-BPM detection will detect the tempo of a sample you copy into Glitchbreaks (you just need to specify the bars between 1-4). You can turn this feature off in order to manipulate audio that doesn’t have tempo, this is especially useful for manipulating voice samples.
Glitchbreaks contains a 4 channel mixer to adjust the levels of each sample, as you change the levels the sounds are combined into the mix, on the iPad version this is displayed graphically with a rendered waveform that is combined to give you an indication of what the entire sound looks like.
All of this is very easy to operate and even a beginner will be glitching and juggling breaks like a pro in minutes.

I….. LOVE this app. Thank you for creating it. For years, I was wondering what in the world happened to one of my favorite musicians…. Turns out he went and started creating music production software for the masses. Woo!!
The only negative (format) thing I can say about it is that trying to open the manual just opens a blank/white page. No ‘404’ no redirects…. No text…. Nothing. Checking out glitchbreaks.com just says it’s under construction.
Is there some way that we can get the manual? Is it getting updated? I’d love to really figure out how to use this thing because while trial and error can be fun, I usually wind up missing a TON of stuff, and then I’ll have all these convoluted workarounds for really simple stuff. 🤷🏻
Anyway…. GREAT app (from what I can tell…hehe). Miss your music, man!
Terrific App when iOS is compatible
This digital widget can really surprise you with fresh decimated sounds and it simply could not be easier to use. Just start hitting the buttons and dragging the slider and sound data window and BOOM you have a whole new bag.
Some reviews have said you can’t use custom sounds with weird non-bar lengths…but I have NOT had that problem!
The problem I DO HAVE is that the app no longer works…it just opens and then closes. I see it in apps-running but the screen doesn’t stick to the active window. I tried reinstalling but no dice. It’s been like this for a while…I would hold off buying until this is resolved.
How do you record yourself
I’m trying to find out how to record your own sound I’ll give it better rating if it works
Pretty fun audio mangler
I'm digging this already just with the presets, but can't wait to throw my own sounds in here. This does a cut up method that seems difficult to find - whenever you hit one pad or another it can immediately cut over to that other sample at the same point In playback as the original pad, if that makes any sense... Anyway that's extremely useful for people into glitchy music.
I can wait to see what this may be able to do when I control it from my digitakt
Issues
Hey, first off I want to say I really like this app, there’s currently nothing else i can find that’s fun and easy to use that allows for such expressive and fun looping and glitching. I’m having an impossible time trying to import my own audio though, anything I copy in through the pasteboard just ends up coming out as white noise. I even wound up additionally buying AudioShare hoping that would work, but still no avail. It’s great and fun with the presets, but I just can’t find any way to make my own audio work. Would be great if that could be fixed or updated, thanks
Yo Alex!
Love thIs app and look forward to new one! Hit me up for beta testing my friend !
GLITCH-A-RRIFIC‼️🤓
I absolutely LOVE this app, and have been using it for years, but I would like to suggest that a new user would take the time to READ THE MANUAL before leaving a negative review out of frustration. You can really create some AWESOME ear candy with this app, AND when you combine it with other AWESOME apps, the creative possibilities are just endless!!!!
GO TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great glitches, no transport control
Really love this app and how quickly you can get a great break going. However, since it doesn’t receive transport controls, like start/stop, it’s really tough to fit it into my workflow. Would be great if it would start at the same time as Audiobus or whatever is hosting it, like AUM/BM3/Cubasis/etc.
Lives up to its Name
It glitches and then breaks... as in, it fails to function and then crashes. At least it's consistent.
It's not good
This is a bad way to make music, frankly.
Can it add "glitch" to audio? Yes. Is it a good tool? Not really.
