Always says there is an update I click update grill shows updated and it fails everytime

Wide temp swings

Generally, Grill controls seem to work. Only giving 3 stars because I can’t tell if the app or grill controller is buggy. Too many times where I can’t trust the app or controller. Say I’m at 195 degrees. I will change the temp of the grill through the app to 220z. While the app says the grill is at 195, the second I change the temp the indicator will drop like 30 degrees to 165 and stay there. I dont know if it’s the app or controller. But it makes using a “easy” smoker a headache.

iOS not compatible

Looking at the most recent reviews tells me I’m not alone. Please get this fixed! Green Mountain Grill fought long and hard with their competitor for Wi-Fi use let’s get this right! I just spent $1200 on a new grill that doesn’t connect to my phone. If you can’t get this fixed send me an android device to use as a remote.

I’m another iOS user that is unable to use the server mode. I’ve called tech support and was told they know about the issue and to expect an update to fix the issue within the next two weeks. That was now about two months ago. Please fix your app so we can use the grill as intended!

Horrible

every time you need to grill you have to reset the grill to connect to it with the app.

Still doesn’t work

Waiting 2 months now for a supposed update to fix my issue because according to the person I spoke to from GMG “it doesn’t work on iOS”. The guy said they finished testing and it was submitted for approval. I’m guessing there is no update to fix the issue and they don’t feel like replacing the board. Stay away from green mountain and look somewhere else.

For me, the Prime version is better than the legacy GMG app

This version of the GMG app has been working well for me so far. It has extras I don’t use but the core functionality works and it automatically connects to my grill every time I open the app with my grill powered on. I even use it in server mode where I used to only use WiFi mode with the legacy app. I even appreciate the new user interface design. I am a long term Green Mountain Grill owner. I have a Daniel Boone Classic and a Jim Bowie Prime+. But I’ve always had regular trouble with the older legacy app. Frequently I would open the app, attempt to connect to either of my grills and end up with the “Grill not found” message. It got to the point where I stopped using the app. I could just as easily turn the grill on using the controls on the grill and I don’t use the built in thermometers. I use a ThermoWorks thermometer with a paired wireless monitor I can carry around up to a 1/2 mile distance. I would only use the legacy app in WiFi mode because server mode was frequently buggy and would lose connection a lot. Server mode in the prime app just works and it connects automatically. Now when I leave I’ll actually use one of the built in temperature probes as a secondary so I can watch the temperature of what I’m cooking over my phone when I’m away from home. Good job on the new app Green Mountain. It does have a bunch of extra features I’ll never use but the core app is actually useful now.

Still doesn’t work great.

Slightly-disappointed on

United States

Tried this app about a year ago with terrible results. Connectivity was spotty, massive temp swings, terrible all around user experience. Was surprised to come back to see this app had fantastic reviews now. Unfortunately it appears around Apr 20th a slew of 5 star reviews, one or two lines, marketing lingo, and generic user names boosted this app to its current rating. Looks like bots to me. If this happened organically it’s unfortunate. The app still doesn’t work great, stick with legacy. If GMG paid for a bot service, that’s pretty bad form guys, just make a better app, everyone else did it, so can you.

Server mode

Terrible app server mode still doesn’t work. GMG keeps telling me that it’s my internet that is the problem.
