Description

An application for keeping track of GnuCash transactions on the go.

Note: this app is not meant to be a standalone implementation of GnuCash. Rather, it's a simple tool for recording transactions as they happen that also allows you to export in a GnuCash-compatible format (CSV).

Capabilities:
- Import a set of accounts (these should be exported from a valid GnuCash instance; `File > Export > Export Account Tree to CSV...`)
- Create transactions in GnuCash-compatible, double-bookkeeping fashion.
- Export said transactions for import into a standalone GnuCash instance (`File > Import > Import Transactions from CSV...`). Use the "GnuCash Export Format".
- Set favorite debit and credit accounts for pre-populating transaction fields.

Import

Exactly what is it looking for? I entered my.gnucssh file from my desktop and nothing happens

Certainly no frills

If one selects a debit account (like any expense account) to enter a positive amount, a negative amount will be exported to that account. Then the “credit account” will have a positive amount posted!!!??? Once I realized this I allowed for it. But really? If this app allows for split transactions (pretty common for me), I couldn’t figure out how.

Issues!

Will not import anything as of 10/20/2022.

Kudos for the effort but not ready for me.

I currently use iQIF for this exact purpose. One of the major problems there is with i QIF is that importing accounts only works with Finder/iTunes, which can be troublesome without a Mac. This app instead, allows one to import using the more modern and flexible Files. 👍 However as of 2022-07 here are major issues which would create a substantial downgrade for me from using iQIF: - Why import export in CSV, which requires making sure parameters are correct, when gnucash has XML export for accounts which includes commodity and QIF import, which prevents double importing? - no way of correcting currency symbol fo account. - can’t search through accounts. I have about 300 accounts. Can’t keep scrolling for them all the time I add a transaction. - account hierarchy is not organized like in gnucash. Some placeholders are not whereI would expect them to be. - accounts with long names do not display properly on the UI interface - was not able to find a list of transactions so that I can go back and modify or edit one. Must go look find the transaction inside the account.

Thank you for making this available on ios

Gnucash moble is a little app with potential. I hope to see more from it in the future.

A nice start

This app is a nice start. An advantage it has over iQIF is that you can see total spending for each of your accounts, which is handy on vacation. To add a transaction, it looks like you need to navigate into an account, like your credit card account. I clicked the add button on the top level page and it seemed to lock up. When importing into GnuCash, on the Import Preview tab, you’ll want to click the Load and Save Settings drop down to choose the GnuCash Export Format. When you export, the file is visible in the Files app so you presumably could do weekly exports if you wanted to track weekly expenses on an extended trip without a computer handy (so your balances would start at zero each week) It would be really handy to be able to navigate into a transaction to at least read it. Being able to edit would be even handier. Thanks for the app!

Can’t edit transactions

Can’t edit transactions. GnuCash for Android is better. I was hoping for the same functionality when I got a new phone. (I miss my Android. And it’s Back button. )
