Go Paddling Reviews

Not so great

Jäger & Clyde on

Not an easy app to navigate. Not intuitive at all. Clumsy at best. Deleted it after spending 2 hours just trying to use the app for 1 day trip

Needs fixed

This app gave me hope until I completed an plan, which requires the plan to be emailed to you. Why? If i want a printable version, then give me an option for that. Currently this application is useless.

Meh!

Not to sound like a broken record but you have the beginnings of something really good, just finish it. It’s fairly useless as is.

Frustrating with limited information

Difficult to register and log on. Significant lack of information. Waste of time.

Close to great but disappoints

Great app for locating water entry points. You can plan a trip from point A to point B and what not. However, thats it. No route is plotted. Get a handheld GPS.

Dogs Allowed or Not

Ski Racer Girl on

United States

This app does not state whether dogs are allowed at the various locations or not. We drove 45 min to a lake and upon arriving, saw a big “No Dogs Allowed” sign. We planned on taking our dogs out on the canoe. The next closest lake was twice the distance away and we didn’t have time to go all the way over there, so we had no choice but to just go home. Absolutely ruined our afternoon. This app should be more like AllTrails with all the details listed for each paddling location. You know, to actually help people looking to paddle somewhere. Most listings only have the name of the lake, probably as given by a random app user, and little to no information. Needs a lot of work.

Pop-ups in 2022, really?

nodivisions on

The app forces you to click a button on a pop-up every time you launch it. This kind of nonsense was obnoxious 15-20 years ago. It’s unbelievable that this developer is still doing this today.

It’s fine

Like a lot of other reviewers have said, it’s a good app but needs improvement. I downloaded this as a beginning kayaker in an unfamiliar area (Central IL). It does help you find launch points and gives you an idea of the amenities, but that’s it. There are no landmarks on the map to give you context for what you’re looking at - for example, Mackinaw State Park has a canoe launch that’s on the map, but the state park itself isn’t, so I have to cross reference with Google maps to find what I’m looking for. Whenever you navigate away from the app, it resets to your current location. This may be aspirational, but it would be cool if it would tell you approximately how many miles your trip down the river is on the float plan. Finally, maybe it’s just because I’m looking at remote access points in Central Illinois, but there are almost no reviews or pictures on a lot of these points, which is not the app’s fault but it would be nice if it was more of a crowd sourcing tool for launch point information.

Good start …

I have just started paddle boarding so this is app is great for locating spots. Some things … * I wish I could see a map of my favorites spots only * I have written reviews and submitted pics (especially with pricing info) but they never have shown up * I wish there was a filter button to help narrow down your search

Has potential

Stacy342109 on

I love that it shows the many different launch sites, and is basically a user’s centered app - in which the paddler creates reviews to help other paddlers. However, it seems outdated at this point because a lot of the reviews or launch points are from two years ago. It would be better if more current users would leave feedback - or maybe, I am the only one still using it. Lol.
