golingo – Speak new languages

Revised review it’s stopped working and says something has gone wrong which has been reported to their engineers, this has been going on for over a week and the app is now totally useless, so my original review below now longer applies other than to say it hadn’t improved on my comments. I really like the app, the interactions are good. However it’s twice restarted the lessons at the beginning and I can’t see how to go back to the level I should be on which is frustrating. Also when giving answers the app doesn’t always give adequate time for you to speak and can mishear your reply when it is actually correct.

Hi yes I am finding the bite size lessons very good. However, I would like the opportunity to repeat the previous lesson immediately after finishing the lesson. Thank you.

This is a speaking app which has been brilliant for my French progress. Being able to speak everyday as part of my language learning has improved my pronunciation and I feel more confident speaking in my French lessons. The AI conversations are amazing! It’s worth subscribing for these. Highly recommend. 5⭐️

Wow! Just subscribed and got the AI conversations, this is genuinely amazing. I feel my French will come on so quickly now. It’s like going to France and trying out and practising your French without any of the fear or embarrassment. This will totally change language learning. Can’t rate highly enough.

Great app, I like that it breaks it down into levels. Voice recognition allows you to have confidence in knowing you’re pronouncing the phrases correctly. Highly recommended

The app is a great idea in theory but doesn’t work well in practice yet. The Welsh course is just in the northern dialect - I’ve been learning the southern dialect which is very different and it wouldn’t recognise my (southern) correct answers. There are also a few bugs - one task asks you to say 30 (spelt out as tri deg). I said “tri deg” and it wrote it down as “30” and told me that was incorrect.

I was recommended this app by a friend and am obsessed. It’s so easy and fun, you can just spend 5 minutes a day and keep up your daily streak! Wander around Pollywood and lowkey feel like you’re on holiday, which you will be soon once you’ve mastered the conversations! Most fun way to learn a new language!!
