Description

Goodgrief is the social network for loss. Finally there’s a free network where grieving people can privately connect, chat, and support each other in finding a new normal.

Co-founders Kim and Robynne know first hand that grief is hard. All too often people are left to navigate the emotional roller coaster alone. Finding others who personally understand loss makes all the difference. Together, they’ve developed a platform to help connect those in need.

Goodgrief is for people ages 18 and up. Goodgrief works by putting you in touch with others who lost their spouse, parent, sibling, child, relative, or friend due to a variety of causes. Create a private profile by answering questions related to your loss. Then, connect to other people through a one-on-one in-app texting service. Your private information is never seen publicly and chats are private and secure. Additional filters narrow your connections by age, gender, religion, time frame, and type and cause of loss. Start chatting today. If you or someone you know needs this app, join our community. You are not alone.

A good support for grief

mspeg! on

I have been using this app for a number of years, starting shortly after my daughter died. It seems much more personal than some of the large on line groups. I connected with another mom who had lost her daughter and and a grandmother who had lost her grandson. We touch base almost everyday to support each other. They have become friends even though we’ve never met. A tremendous support on those dark days! The app does require a bit of picking and choosing but it’s all one on one which I like. The developers are very responsive to any report of inappropriate messages. It’s a safe space to share your grief.

Doesn’t work on iPhone

Mlprandomness1 on

I tried to use this app but it wouldn’t allow me to go past a certain point because the submit button was underneath the keyboard. It wouldn’t let me submit when it required an answer to their question to move forward.

A disappointment

This idea of this app is great. However it’s being misused as a means for dating pickups for no-gooders. For someone who was looking for real support this was a huge downer and left me feeling more empty than had I never used the app at all. A disclaimer or maybe a banner warning all users that genuine users come here to help or to seek help from others experiencing the pain of recovery from the loss of someone they cared about would improve this app. It may not keep all selfish people away but it could encourage real heart to heart connections.

Needed a place

I was suspended for what they say was incomplete profile. Even though I was active in the community and made genuine connections with others grieving. Never mind the men who treated the site like it was tinder or the multi level marketing scams that constantly messaged. Pretty sad.

Not helpful and scammers

mckmousey on

I have been looking for an outlet since my mother passed. I found this app and hoped for the best. It wasn’t what I expected, it felt more like a chat room than anything else. Lots of people felt creepy and not genuine asking for more info or to download other apps to chat privately. It felt like I was being scammed or hit on by creeps if the internet. I deleted it immediately.

It’s not bad..but

So this app is genuine. It can be helpful and what not. I’ve had the app for about 2 days thinking I could lend a shoulder or an ear to others like me but my category is very limited and also there were a lot of people who seemed suspicious. I had one person asking me questions about my credit score and if I needed help and what my phone service provider was like..that our conversation was confidential..what does that have to do with the loss of parents and my grieving process..what does it have to do with bereavement? Another person wanted me to add them on google hangouts and WhatsApp. Watch the certain people you “connect” with. If you’re extremely vulnerable it can just seem like these people or a person can get past you. And trust me that’s the worst thing and the worst feeling. I’m sad, I’m broken, and supposedly you’re seeming to try to take advantage of me or ask me unnecessary suspicious questions? Absolutely not. With this pandemic going on a lot of people are looking for outlets because we can’t go outside to get the ACTUAL help we need..one-on-ome. Therapy and counseling cost money but for a common person to connect and listen to me..and vice-versa costs nothing with the use of this app.

Unjustified Suspension!

Purityisbeautiful on

I was only on the app for about a week. I had been encouraged and began encouraging others. I had a connect request from someone and accepted it. She began asking for pictures and telling me she wanted a serious relationship. I am vulnerable after the loss of my spouse and we took it’ll the conversation out of the app and to a different platform. In “getting to know each other” I sent her a pic of me as a reply to one she sent to me. A day later I get suspended by the moderators of THIS app for “multiple accounts”, “previous suspensions”, and using the app “inappropriately”. After trying to explain twice via email I was met with the closed door in the face answer that I will remain suspended. Thanks but no thanks!! I was taken advantage of. But because I’m a man I guess I don’t count!

Finally

An app that can help you grieve with others that understand and can give solid advice on how they struggled and overcame their sadness. Yes there are people that use it for other than grieving, but follow the rules of the app and you’ll be fine. Thank you so much for this app it was a godsend.

It’s okay....

My3Js on

The idea is great, and I have found connections with some good people. The bad part is that just about every man that comes on the app tries to pick me up. This is not a dating app!! With grief, I don’t want to be prejudiced against all men, as men grieve too, but I now block all men from being able to connect to me. EVERY single one hits on me, even after I tell them that I am married. I changed the settings to female only, but I still get requests from men. They also try to get me to use a different app or give them my phone number or email! Too many men are using this for purposes other than what it was created for. It is not always a safe space.

Need help w app

jenofmarin on

I can’t get past the page were it is asking who was lost. The ap will not let me select. When I try the ‘get help with app’ from within the ap store it says my passwords is incorrect... it’s not. 😏. Maybe it is not working with FB login diversion.... will try to remove it from FB access and maybe set up new profile for app. Cannot really rate it as I haven’t tried the ap.
