* FAQ
- How do I put files into GPlayer?
To add files to your GPlayer app, you have to go to iTunes, and select the “Apps” tab. At the bottom of this page, there’s a “File sharing” section – just select GPlayer in the list, and add files from there. Note that you don’t have to sync your iPhone or iPad to iTunes to add movies. Just drop files in the “File sharing” tab, and they’ll be uploaded immediately. You can even use a friend’s iTunes to add videos to your own iPhone. Also, adding files over WiFi is supported. Indeed, WiFi is significantly slower than USB, and ruins the battery life.
- What kind of streams does GPlayer play?
GPlayer is able to play RTSP and MMS streams. For now those can’t be added to the media library, but you can click an RTSP or MMS url in Safari or Mail for example.
If you want to use GPlayer to open HTTP/FTP streaming, add "gplayer:" prefix in the URL.
- I want to explicitely open an attachment with GPlayer?
If you want to watch an attachment in GPlayer(from Mail for example), just do a long press on the attachment. A menu will pop-up that will let you pick GPlayer as a player.
- iTunes won’t let me install GPlayer on my iPhone or iPod Touch?
Unfortunately, we had to drop support for older iOS devices such as the iPhone 3G or the first two versions of iPods. Indeed, after some testing, we realized those weren’t fast enough to provide a pleasant experience.
- Why HD MKV movies don’t play smoothly?
Currently, only iPad 2 supports 720p MKV file, that’s to be expected. The other iDevices have limited computing power, and cannot handle the complex task of decoding HD movies in real time.
- The audio and the video is not in sync?
That is because the CPU is not power enough to do video decoding, you can try to enable "Skip Frame" in the settings page.
- Is there a TV-out support?
Yep, supports iPod gen4, iPhone4, iPhone4S and iPad 1/2.

Fully featured and sleek - everything a video player should be. If you’re looking for a video player app, this is everything you want. Seriously, this is leaps and bounds above everything else I’ve used.

Best video manager ever

Adi4196 on

This is the best video manager. It may not be the top app or have the most reviews, but trust me it’s very reliable, robust and well designed. It can handle lots of data while being fast enough to go through it all. Definitely recommend it!

Only one complaint!

Nevin 11 on

I have only one complaint about this awesome player- it doesn’t put the videos in proper order. Which requires you to double check every episode’s title to make sure you’re watching them in order. Plays all video formats and has a decent user interface. If there was playlist selection or just proper organization of video titles I would give this 5 stars.

Best video viewing app

HHH3993 on

Of all the different apps I’ve tried to watch my downloaded videos on, this has been the easiest and most hassle free to use, you can set up increasing the play speed which is my favorite and what I really needed. The only downside is that the files don’t get arranged how you’d like them to be, like there’s no option for alphabetical or numerical order, and since I’m watching board review videos, not having this can get pretty annoying when I have to search where the next video out of 100 will be

Bad bug

Sneefle on

iOS 12 iPhone XS - most of the time, rotating the screen, which triggers the video player to change orientation, will crash the app and you will lose your playback progress, etc. very frustrating. Sometimes doesn’t happen, but often does. Seems more prone to crash after watching several videos in a row. Memory leak? iOS 12 iPhone 8 Plus - had downloaded many videos by using "open in" and choosing GPlayer. That adds them to the folder "inbox" on the iPhone. Today I tapped the button "use iTunes backup" or maybe it's called just "iTunes Backup" on the app, on my iphone, and it instantly deleted the entire inbox. iPhone storage info shows GPlayer using only app space (around 45MB) and no documents/data. Very upset. Used GPlayer for years, since I think iPhone 3G.

Good Basic Video Player.

I use this often to watch videos, no complaints, but I do have a few suggestions that would be very helpful. 1. Can you integrate a way to loop a section of a video, and adjust the playback speed. I mainly use this for instructional videos it would be great to have the ability to loop a section and slow it down to assist with learning. 2. It would be neat to integrate a video playlist feature where a selection of videos could be played one after the other. Add those 2 features and it would make the app that much powerful Thanks
