Great app for sending routes to google earth
This app works very nicely. I have used it to measure distances covered while riding my bike. It is easy to use and accurate. Big problem, however, it drains the iPhone battery even when you think you have turned it off. I have now removed it from my phone and await fixing this fatal flaw.
Pros: - Works with HoudahGPS for geo tagging to photos. - Inexpensive price. Cons: - Consumes battery so quickly. You can't use this app a day. - Doesn't run on background. If do, GPSRecorder fails logging. Worse-more, sometime it keep running on some part so that it consumes battery. It never stops even terminating the app nor rebooting the iPhone. - Graphics and UI are not fancy.
This app should be free in it's current condition It needs lots of work. Too many features missing to mention in this review.
I've been using GPSRecorder for about 10 months and it's been great for geotagging the photos I take with my DSLR. I've been using it in conjunction with HoudahGeo on my Mac. GPSRecorder's built-in support for HoudahGeo and other geotagging apps as well as being able to just email the log file makes it flexible easy to use. I was thrilled when iOS 4 came out with multitasking support and am glad to see that GPSRecorder now will run in the background so that I can do other tasks while still geocoding. It's been a great addition to my photography toolkit.
