Tolle App, Danke! Finde aber auch, dass es praktisch wäre, wenn man eigene Kategorien anlegen könnte.
I migrated everything to new iPad. The new iPad doesn’t seem to be aware that Grace app is installed. When you search for it - it always offers to open it from the App Store. It has been deleted & reinstalled, but it didn’t resolve these issues. On the good side. It works well & We use it for “I want”. We use it for “first then next”. We use it to show a schedule sequence eg; morning schedules. And we use it for a choice board in ABA.
Using VB principles we like to encourage communication with vocalisations if possible so we don't use Tap to speak. Using the camera, our daughter can add her own photos to make independent requests and we can add in the text later, to make sure she is understood by everyone . Delighted with the update.
Back in 2010, while Grace App was in its infancy, I sceptically downloaded it thinking it was "just another autism app". It was however, incredibly easy to use. My daughter became adept at using it incredibly quickly and in a very short period of time, was taking pictures of her reinforcers and manoeuvring her way through the app like only a child with no fear of technology can! To be able to add reinforcers instantly with the use of the camera and being able to ditch the laminator was liberating. The app has grown and developed incredibly since we first used it. Folders were added so that reinforcers could be categorised and found easily (to be honest, my kiddo had no problem finding her desired reinforcer faster than I could ask what she wanted, but my own inner OCD wanted those folders for well, ya know, tidiness sake...). We used the app before sound was added and I was able to reinforce any and all vocal attempts she made. There is now an option to add sound however we didn't need to use that function as using the app as part of her echoics program was very successful and she is now verbal. I can see where it could be useful to some but would advise people to not allow the app to "talk" for their child unless absolutely necessary. She does however love the newest update which allows text to be added to the pictures and is always asking how to spell words so she can add the text to the pictures. Now the app is switchable between seven languages it's only a matter of time before she's asking me for pain au chocolate or a trip to the playa! All in all, it's a fantastic, simple to use, very effective communication system that made our lives much much easier while kiddos speech was emerging. Now that there is the option of increasing the size of the cards, I can see this app being used not only for children and adults with communication difficulties, but in hospitals, nursing homes etc where individuals have mobility issues after strokes etc. I no longer think this is just another autism app, I think there is real longevity and this one will be in the App Store for a long long time. This one is a keeper!
This is a fantastic app for children with special needs to communicate their wants/wishes. Easy to understand and customisable for the individual with your own photos.
I love that I can customise this to meet my Childs needs exactly. I prefer an exchange system as I want my son to interact with me and not have a computer speak for him. This gets it exactly right and easy to use
Jacob already loves using the iPhone, and the Grace app is brilliantly simple to use. It can be added to very simply, the existing pics reinforce the relevant word, and it's perfect on the touch screen. The pictures are clear, friendly and easily recognised. I look forward to him being able to add to them himself. Well done to all involved - and a big thank you.
We got the Grace App for our i phone even though our son (Age 6) who has autism is verbal. But we found the "Now and Then" feature really useful with our son. He understood it on the i phone straight away and has even started taking pictures himself with it. It will help us to explain what iscoming up and also if we want him to do something what will come after the first or desired activity is completed. It cuts down on the unwanted behaviour from our son as he loves computers / i phone/ etc. Just wanted to say well done. A very simple but clever app!!!!!
