I’m a digital-only subscriber because I want to read Granta onthego ontheiPad, but am very angry about this app. Even with having to sign in Each time I open the app (!!) it won’t take me past title pages. I’ve tried deleting the app and redownloading but problem not solved. I’ll be canceling my auto-renew and return to buying selected hard copies. Get it right, Granta, you’re letting down your authors and readers.
Won’t download the text or photos of articles
I’ve used this app for ages..years and I’ve had no problems reading and enjoying the e version of what is an excellent magazine BUT SINCE last few updates I can no longer down load anything beyond the title of each article.
I’m a subscriber through iTunes and I’m at a loss to find any app support. So if any one from Granta reads this, please ask the IT people to update the granta app ASAP THANKS.
can’t log in
I’m a subscriber and I receive emails from the magazine
the logins on the app and the website don’t recognise me, and the publisher doesn’t respond to my requests for assistance
Disappointed
I subscribed to Granta for one year, only to find I had no access. Sent an email and after two days of waiting found a request for username and password. Complied. After another 2 days, with no response, sent another email asking what was happening, and after another 2 days was asked for my postcode. Have been unable to access the content of Granta for weeks now. I only wish I had never subscribed. Don't fall into the trap. They'll rip you off!
Great content, terrible app
Granta is a wonderful literary magazine but its disgraceful app does the content a disservice. If a magazine offers digital only subscription they should have a properly functioning app and Granta does not.
The app does not honor screen rotation so you are perpetually stuck in portrait mode, not a good thing for a tablet. The images are pixelated and photo features lump all the photographs together in an unscrollable conglomeration. Worst of all, it does not remember reading position and one cannot bookmark one’s location within an article; it’s only possible to bookmark a whole article, which is pointless since one has a table of contents for locating articles.
A glance at the reviews here show that this app has been problematic for years yet remains unfixed. It can’t be that expensive for Granta to put to work a decent coder or two and fix the app.
It’s not hard
Agree with other reviews. Horrible app and no service
Ridiculously unusable
Who wrote this? Un-navigable, unusable. Dreadful.
Just a terrible app. Subscribed but likely will not renew
The app just doesn’t work on an IPad. Screen rotation is hit-or-miss. The navigation is really unintuitive, and the overall experience stinks. It’s a pity, because so many magazines get this right. Why not just license a standard app framework and get on with the content?
Type size
It must be no larger than six point type, and there is no way to adjust it. I’ve been a subscriber since the early 1980’s, but will no longer subscribe.,
Terrible app
Please hire someone who knows how to construct an app. Aside from your roulette wheel of chance when trying to read an issue, one has to sign in EVERY f&$king time! Some of us actually read Granta on out frickin’ phones! Nice digital subscription.
