I got the Vaonis Hestia and struggled for hours trying to take a picture of the moon. Installed several times but when I try and find the moon, BLACK SCREEN. I line it up right, install and line up the camera but black screen. Ready to return the whole thing. Thought this would be easy but this app stinks.
Latest update broke tracking on IOS
This app used to be pretty solid for me, but that latest update 1.4.6 broke deep sky tracking for me.
All Photo access? Really
I finally received my Hestia. They sent it to the wrong address first time around. So No eclipse viewing for me. Though I could have lived with that. Super excited to get this and set it up only to find out they want access to all my photos and videos. Yeah not happening! What a waste. Hope they fix the app soon and change that or I’ll be selling mine unused on eBay by months end.
It works. Kinda.
I actually had no intention of using this app with the Hestia. I figured camera app would be good enough. Low and behold, native iPhone 15 camera will try and auto swap lens’. So I just went ahead and downloaded this app. The tutorials and setup were quite informative. I was able to get it going. However, the app auto crops the pictures, all my finished photos were at a low 1megapixel quality. I saw no way to increase the photo quality in the app or in the settings. I actually used this for the eclipse, so most of my pictures ended up looking like pixelated digital zooms instead of nice closeups I would expect from an iPhone 15.
Worst piece of junk ever
Wished I had never seen the indie gogo ad for piece of garbage. Instructions online are trash, the scan to use QR code wouldn’t work on gravity app. Tried for over an hour, was able to stream videos on how to use this app and device, so it wasn’t an internet issue even though that’s all the app would say it is.
So never worked, since it’s not a legit company I can’t even return this garbage. Buy from anyone else.
Needs work
Great start, but the app needs work. It would be nice to be able to use tracking software for the planets, instead of guessing. Also, please add a constellation option.
Little disappointed
The pictures are 1300x1300?! Why? My phone takes 4000x3000. So not sure what this app does. And, not sure about why there’s a list of objects. There doesn’t seem to be any indication in how to locate them. At least this was free…
Missing features!
The Vaonis video for Gravity shows major features not in the software. In an upcoming release? No idea because they don’t respond to support queries. Being generous with two stars.
Works better on iOS than android
This was gift for my husband who has android (Samsung galaxy s23 ultra)
When he switches from scenery to moon, the app goes black and we can’t find any object. Nothing. Not inside our home or outside looking at the sky.
When I switch from scenery to moon, I can take a picture of the moon.
Terrible user experience.
I hope there is a fix before the eclipse
Need work
App needs work. Doesn’t take advantage of all the photo, Timelapse or video functions that my phone is capable of. Disappointed by this app so far. I’m finding it frustrating to use and instead I’m seeing what I can do using the camera app on my phone instead of this app. Hope the company updates this app soon with more features and flexibility to take video and Timelapse.
