Grocery is the smartest and fastest grocery shopping app. Keep your list sorted while you shop with your Apple Watch. Easily add items from Siri and Recipes.

** MacStories Must-Have iOS Apps - 2018 **
"Extra navigational steps, like remembering where you are in a list or backtracking through a store because of the order on paper, can really push a person over the edge if going to the store is their current 'Impossible Task'. They might opt for leaving with only half of their items, or just not go at all…which can project this task into the future, always a little unfinished or uncertain. Grocery reduces steps needed in the moment, and provides that little bit of joy every time an item is checked off the list in the UI. Knowing that I just made the future better, by going to the store and checking things off the list and improving the sorting algorithm! This is actually a huge relief: reduced doomsday feelings because I know that future store runs are going to be even easier/better because of what I did today (yay positive agency)!" - Amelia W.

If you try to share a list with someone the text is totally broken. Maybe this app is worth it if you’re the sole shopper/meal planner but if you need to collaborate with another person, the app isn’t able to do that successfully. The feature is there but the text of the list becomes essentially illegible when shared. Do not recommend.
Fine App if You are Single Using One Device
The app is fine if you use the same, simple ingredients (i.e., one type of vinegar, one type of rice, one type of beans, one type of tomato, etc.,), but the inventory and recipe features (along with the utterly broken “smart” features) collapse as soon as you introduce any complexity. Do you use short grain and long grain rice? Good luck trying to track it! Even if the “smart” features are turned off (which automatically “correct” both to just “rice”), the system will “helpfully” create duplicate entries that say the exact same thing in your inventory (you don’t have “short grain rice” for your stir fry receipt, but you DO have “short grain rice” for your other recipe!). Adding additional devices and people create even more confusion (my SO has American Cheese, but I don’t have any). In summary, if you are living alone, one person manages everything (including does all the grocery shopping), or you have an incredibly simple grocery need, the App is fine. Add any complexity, and this App collapses in on itself as its “helpful” features transform into catastrophic bugs that undermine the entirety of the program.
Great app just needs a tweek
Love this app best by far. I just wish each one of my kids could see same lists as me and edit that list. Like we all see same screen list interactively. Like if I am in a list my daughter can get on her phone and add things she needs. But love the app just don’t like I have to share it as a simple list she can’t scan things she buys at store to update my list.
Too bad, it would be great if it worked well.
I downloaded the iphone app and have been using it for a few months now. On its own, it's a decent grocery list app. The only thing in this area that I have to say is that the response time is slow when entering items or marking them off as completed.
My family has been trying to use the app for synchronized shopping lists so that whoever goes to the store can grab items from the list that other family members added. This hasn't worked at all. I have the premium version and have created a household with 4 of us. They can't see my list and I can't see theirs, let alone edit the lists.
Which brings me to my final complaint. I came back to the app store to find support and when I hit the support or website links I'm taken to X and told I have to sign up or sign in. I don't want an X account, I left twitter ages ago and don't want to rejoin.
Needs to have the bugs squashed
I really liked the idea of this app and bought it when it came out. But now, I feel like I’m fighting with it every time I open it.
The interface is slow. Weird scrolling bugs; problems with recipe import; meal planning is a chore… not a great experience.
Promising Start, Sharing is Impossible
Pros:
Multiple shopping locations/stores, promising offerings of smart adjustments according to your store layout habits (did not get to try really), multiple methods of input, recipe storage and importing features, meal planning.
Cons:
No matter how many times we tried, Household sharing simply does not work. Either appears bugged with lost items compiled into one as cascading notes and not separate items, or doesn’t update at all. I even upgraded my iCloud storage, had the premium version of the app, pushed iCloud updates, closed and reunited sharing, etc. This was the main feature I desired and it simply wouldn’t work.
Other cons include barcode scanning of items to input for inventory or shopping did absolutely nothing, no auto fill etc and if anything was going on, the UI does not make that clear which is not helpful to users. Recipe importing is over complicated and requires so much fine tuning it would make more sense to hand input, so I stopped trying after a few. UI in general is not user friendly, and while I’m more adept than most with a software background, it doesn’t lend itself to learning the ins and outs early on.
Tons of Potential. And bugs too.
Really want to love this app but the bugs and sync problems make it almost unusable, especially when trying to sync across multiple devices for multiple people. Wishing I hadn’t paid for the lifetime subscription. I will happily come back if these issues get addressed but, for now, need to find an alternative solution.
Disappointed
It’s looks good, and I was very excited about the pantry feature, but this app is very buggy. I couldn’t even try it out thoroughly because it was struggling to do basic things. Example: I added a meal to my meal plan and it ended up appearing three times. Then it took multiple attempts to delete each duplicate. Who has time to deal with that?
Love this app!
I love using this app! My family can all add things to our shared list, so whoever goes to the store can see it all. I love the new sort by aisle feature, BUT it has a bug—I have to assign new items an aisle TWICE before it will move them. After that, it’s great!
Please fix this so I can go back to five stars!
Good App but support is abandoned
I have been using this app for a while and it worked fairly well accross devices and with family share, however, recently the Mac app will crash on open and does not open at all. The last update was 10 months ago and I'm afraid that support for the app has be abandoned. If the app is still being supported please fix MacOS crashing issues.
