Gun Rounds Reviews

Simple and stylish roguelite

Gun Rounds is great. The game is easy to play and feels well designed for mobile. It also has a variety weapons and fun enemies to discover. The blocking can be a bit finicky at times, but there’s a real sense of improvement as you master it. Hope to see more added to the game some day!

Short, sweet and satisfying.

Little mobile games like this give me hope that there’s a market of folks out there happy to exchange a few bucks to have a some fun with a neat, novel experience. Thanks for making this game, scratches that roguelike itch real well and fills the free minutes during the day perfectly. Though a good run did make me late out the door this morning 😋

Great to pass a little bit of time here and there

I love this game! I just wish there could be added weapons or enemies or worlds in future, for players who’ve been playing a while. A great play nonetheless.

I have a request

Change the hard mode description to “We gave bees satan attacks and made everything do double damage, i swear it’s fair” 10/10 would play again

Love you

Update: It looks like the 1.0.5.1 update addressed my only concern with this title: the battery and temp on my SE. They are both much more content now, thank you!! Looking forward to the potential Tundra update! A bite size rogue-lite that scratches the itch when out and about (and has started to consume time at home) This game is a complete package for me. While there are much more robust titles on the app store I personally prefer something tailored for phones and their mobile short-bursts-of-free-time style and this game checks all the boxes on my list: - A rogue-lite, replayability - Played in portrait - Playable with one hand - Has turn-based combat... - ...but also active combat! - Not too complicated, but makes you think - Consistent theme and artwork - Great sound track How this title manages to fuse turned based combat (imo almost a must for mobile and my lifestyle) with active combat is fantastic. The aiming is similar to a previous iOS Bust-a-Move game and feels very natural while the defensive reaction reminds me of Studio Pixel's Azarashi with a twist- every enemy has different attack patterns so it keeps you on your toes but gives you the opportunity to learn. It's great combination of different mobile friendly concepts in a fresh way and I love having time to think but also a section to then react. I don't know if the developer ever plans to expand this game in the future or build a successor but it's certainly one I'd keep an eye out for. My only downside would be power consumption. On a 2020 SE it will warm up a little and take a nice bite out of the charge after 30 minutes of play time. If a "battery-saver" mode or similar were introduced I'd be ecstatic. (See above, this has been fixed as of 1.0.5.1!) If you enjoy rogue-lites and have a hankering for one on mobile this one is definitely worth trying out for the asking price. One-time purchase mobile apps are becoming more rare and this one will be happily resting next to Downwell on my home screen.

A short, fun, and challenging game.

This game is very fun. I often find myself playing this game for several runs at a time. The game also has a good challenge level. Sure, normal mode can be very difficult at times, but easy mode is much more relaxed. Also recently I have come across (in my opinion) a glitch that makes the game have almost no challenge at all on any mode. I got the item “emperor round” and died on one run. The next run I noticed that it seemed like the effects of this item were still in effect. Then I bought the demon skull and bubble shield in the first shop. After this, the enemies started to drop very large amounts of money, usually over 150 per room/level in the coast and over 500 per room in the gehena. When the run was over I finished with over 5800 even after buying all the items in the shop.

Brilliant

Among uninspired profit scheming ad-riddled nonsense this is a treat. Gun Rounds is quite a challenge and the main blocking system has unusual timing but very learnable. The music and aesthetic is fantastic. I honestly didn't expect the fourth world to be so unnerving but it was a pleasant surprise. This game is clearly a work of love! There are not a massive number of weapons and items but a few dozen is enough to populate the game with some fun synergies and several unique builds. I've also gotten up to 45 different palette swap choices which is a really nice touch. Currently I've made it to the coast in hard mode with 59 total games. Definitely worth spending a little for a game like this than to suffer through ads for a meager experience. Great job :) Also the clone's face really matches my aesthetic 11/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Idea, Poor Execution

The gameplay loop of this game is torture. You lose to a very hard end boss of enemy and have to spend way too long climbing back. The turn based nature means you can’t speed up the process either. It basically feels like the first two acts are a slow waste of time. In other games you can play faster with more experience but here you have to sit through boring attack after attack only to lose to the final boss and do it again.

Awesome game

If you’re looking for a unique title with an innovative turnbased approach to shooting combat with a nostalgic game it type feel Gun Rounds is where it’s at. Incredibly addicting especially due to the rogue like element and the mystery box style way your acquire your arsenal. My only tick on this is a technical one, when I’ve been mid-game I’ve received phone calls and when returning to the game the sound does not work. I hope this gets fixed because the sound is key to this game with the timing factor of attacks. Still my favorite new title on the App Store.
