Political Purchasing Power

Description

Americans inadvertently donate 3X more to politicians and PACs through their purchases than they donate on purpose. Let's change that!
Goods Unite Us is a women-led, Madison-Wisconsin based company with a well-established track-record of providing accurate data.
Enter a company or brand name. And we’ll tell you what we know about the political donations made by the organization and its senior employees.
Corporations earn profits off of your everyday purchases, and some of those profits are donated to politicians and causes you might not agree with. Most of us are unaware of this because that information hasn't been readily available. Until now.
Last, but certainly not least, we recently added a Politicians feature. This allows you to easily look up your favorite politician and instantly see the companies that support him or her!

How We Vet The Political Donations
Our team has spent thousands of hours vetting companies’ political donations with the tools available to us, and we’ll continue refining our data to ensure our results are as accurate as possible. So far, we’ve focused on organizations’ spending in federal elections, and our next step will be to vet state expenditures.

GUU: Debate Politics & Shop Reviews

Great interface, questionable data

Circuitsoft on

United States

I love the interface and the concept of the app, but I've found a fair bit of questionable and right wrong information. Examples: Lands' End clothing is listed as a subsidiary of Sears, but that hasn't been true since 2014. I've also found quite a few well-referenced sources indicating Chico's is not as indicated. Like others have mentioned, a bit more transparency/context on the data sources would be helpful.

GOODS not services, please

mamaji5150 on

United States

This used to be a good site. But of late it’s not being updated, and the companies that are getting the best scores don’t sell GOODS: They sell services, software, intellectual property and other intangibles. Do y’all need help researching some real places that sell real retail things? I can help with that. Professional journalist here.

Good to use- could provide alternatives

Uninfinity on

United States

Should provide alternative to each, so that people know where they need to head to!

Disappointed

Nikol33 on

United States

I downloaded the app because I thought it would be great to know the political leanings of companies that I spend my dollars with. Imagine my surprise when I discovered today, that we have to pay to find out about certain companies. Why do we have to pay to find out about certain companies and not others?

So glad to have this!

I almost bought all blue for Christmas! I assumed a major retailer for women was blue considering the times! VS I am very disappointed and wish I could return the shipped gifts! Other than that I made all my Christmas purchase blue! Yay! Thanks!

Interesting

Very informative opened my eyes

Good information, app needs improvement.

Sunnysidesounds on

Good information, the app could be improved though. Using my Apple login, it will log me out randomly, there is no way to update your score. On the website there is a bug in the username sign-up. Where it’s blocking you from creating a account when you conform to the format of the username.

Crashes A LOT

QueenKatofTypos on

United States

While using this app is nice because it lets you browse a list of the companies, you’re probably better off just using the website. Half the time when I click on a company name, the app crashes.

Crash

Petitcochon57 on

Was forced to update the app and now it crashes every time I open it so it is useless. Negative 12 stars.

Current!
