Habitica Reviews

Overall good, though initially complicated

Just an average Indian on

Since it works like a game, it is the most interesting habit and to-do app out there. But, the game mechanics are still something that people initially need to get a hang of just like any other video game. But, this is overall an app I recommend to anybody looking for something different. The community is also very supportive! Really enjoying it right now.

PLEASE MAKE IWATCH APP

I loveeeee this app. It has really been helpful for my adhd. It has lovely real time consequences for choices on habits and a reward system. I love that my wife was able to get the app and we were able to form a party so we can earn experience for maintaining the house in a fun way! But I NEED this to have iwatch widgets so I can easily update my habit tracker or my dailies. And more widgets for the phone so I can track my habits!

Excited but let down

This all seemed to be exactly what I needed to get myself motivated to care for my home and self. However, any task or habit I create, regardless of filters or ensuring I press “create”, disappears and cannot be found via search or any dashboard. Really disappointing.

I was confused at first

There is a learning curve but cool app

Good task management, nothing motivating

If you were already planning to disrupt your life to build new habits and manage productivity, this is essentially a planner pretending to be a game. Could be fun. But it’s not enough to be a breakthrough solution for those of us who really need something different that works. Back when I tried this app 10 years ago it had a social aspect where you could do challenges with other app users and discuss on in-app forums. Now at a time when I am really down to build new habits and stick to something, there is nothing actually motivating about using this app. Maybe if you’re a Cookie Clicker type and seeing the number of levels go up is enough for you, this will work. But there’s no social aspect and no unlocking of cool items—everything cool is behind microtransactions. Sure, you can earn rewards and customize a reward for your real life like watching TV. But I’m assuming I’m like most people this app is targeted for, who has little issue watching TV without feeling like I’ve “earned” it.

Almost Great

I was having such a good experience with this app.. until about 5 days in when I realized the good stuff like hairstyles… are locked behind a paywall (gems). It’s one thing if you can earn items OR pay real money to unlock, but making most cool stuff ONLY pay to unlock defeats the entire point of this app. Pretty lame imo… I hope this changes in the future :/

Love it but needs work

*** Update*** I keep losing health and such when I check off tasks instead of gaining it. Its really annoying and just killed me in the app. It has helped me get some sort of routine and get through tasks, but there are some glitches. You lose connection a lot or sessions end. And it’s impossible to get all the check-ins. I’ve used the app everyday for a month but it doesn’t always count activity as a check in. Sometimes when I check off tasks I lose health/coins/experience instead of gaining it.

Buggy

This app has helped me so much in terms of being more productive, and I play it with my friends. My main concern at the moment is the bugs. Lately it’s been getting worse and worse, whether it has to do with server connection, lag, or even forgetting the data I have logged for a day and acting like I have yet to log on. It’s frustrating, I need an update.

USED to be great but now…

This used to be a great app but they took everything away that made it amazing. There’s no longer a social side, you can’t even pick your own party members unless you know ppl irl with the app. All the volunteer moderators MADE Habitica what it was. Now it’s a shell of what it used to be. I barely use it anymore tho ig it’s still a helpful tool. Wouldn’t pass it up but I wouldn’t praise it either since it’s super laggy majority of the time.

Solid way to have fun while staying organized!

I got this app months ago and I’ve been in love. Turning habit tracking into an RPG setting has helped me stay invested and motivated while creating habits/continuing existing ones! Get this app if you’re struggling with the ol run-of-the-mill habit tracker apps!! There are in app purchases, but they don’t take away the ability to progress or have fun. The Habitica team is real cool on that front. Only reason I didn’t rate it a 5 star is because the app is really spotty at updating the next day. Like, I complete all my tasks and by the next day, the counters don’t reset no matter how many times I refresh the page or close and restart the app.
