Hammerhead Companion Reviews

No support for last generation device

Ajkarnas on

United States

The company tried and failed to market a standalone device that “didn’t need a companion app because people would upload with SIM card”. I’m glad they quietly admitted defeat but they’ve left every early supporter out in the rain. Shame on them. I work in tech and have not seen such disregard in a long time. The earlier generation has a BT antenna. Make it work.

Karoo is excellent but needs HealthKit support

Paulnerd on

United States

This app and the Karoo computer has been getting some great updates lately. Please add native HealthKit support. That’s the key missing piece that holds me back from a full recommendation for Karoo.

No Karoo 2 support

lubdubrn on

Why in the world would you not make this backwards compatible with the Karoo 2? This has been a feature that has been asked for for so long. Why would you alienate your loyal customers? Please fix this horrible oversight. Your biggest competitors have had this functionality for years.

Karoo 2

cygnl7 on

Doesn’t work with the Karoo 2. What hardware limitation exists in the Karoo 2 that it can’t be used from this app? It smells of planned obsolescence to me. So much for being a Hammerhead fanboi. Time to move on…

Karoo 2 Not supported

Excited they came out with app only to find Karoo 2 not supported.

No Karoo 2 support

Dynort on

Disappointing that hammerhead hasn’t made app support available for the Karoo 2. Way to leave your loyal customers out in the cold.

Short-sighted

I won’t even consider upgrading my Karoo 2 to the K3 until SRAM commits to making this app compatible with the population of K2 devices that otherwise work perfectly well.

Very Happy

When my original Karoo 1 battery finally died I updated to the new 3rd generation Karoo. I love it and and love this app. Being able to read text messages on the Karoo is wonderful, quick checking how charged it is when I'm too weak to get out of bed is fabulous, but my favorite feature is sending POIs markers from my map apps. It's quite handy when I get lost, I'll get out my phone, find the address and send it to the Karoo and be on my way. While I'm looking forward to future features, I'm delighted at where it's at now. Most of the negative reviews here are from disgruntled K2 owners, and I understand, I know its disappointing that the K2 isn't supported, but that's no reason for one star reviews. I'm delighted with this app and proud of how far Hammerhead has come over three generations, I'm excited to see how far they can go under the SRAM brand. Right-on yall, keep up the good work!

Love the product but not the App

I was extremely impressed with how well and quickly the Karoo paired with my third party components. I don’t like how the only way to assess the ride data is through Strava which does not always provide the most accurate depictions or go as in depth of the workout. I think that this is something that the app would be better utilized for. The details that Wahoo provides is impressive and something that is very replicatable. Why have all these things on my display if I can’t see any of it afterwards?

Brand new K2 not supported

BackCountry717 on

Seriously, no support for the K2 I bought a couple months ago? Setting up for the first time for a 7 day bike-packing trip and already no app support. Pretty good way to loose SRAM customers!
