The app uses the powerful sensors and precise GPS technology of modern smartphones to check the stability of the anchor.
How does it work?
1. Set anchor: The captain anchors in the water as usual and secures the ship.
2. Enable Anchor Watch: After the anchor is dropped, the user needs to enter some parameters:
2.1 Aim for the direction of the anchor in the water
2.2 Adjust the safety radius, thrown chain length and water depth
3. Data analysis: The app records the ship's movements over the entire period and analyzes the movement patterns.
4. Show anchor status: Based on the data, the status of the anchor is evaluated and communicated to the user in real time. As soon as the ship drifts out of the safety radius, an alarm tone sounds on all devices connected to the iPhone.
Main functions:
Real-time anchor monitoring: Anchor provides quick anchor strength results so the user can respond in a timely manner when needed.
Notifications: The app can send notifications in case the anchor slips or problems occur.
History Log: Anchor records the results and movement patterns for future reference.
Remote control: The remote control feature allows two or more devices to be connected to each other.
The transmitting device, e.g. your iPad, remains on the boat while you are on land with your iPhone. (stable internet connection required)
Anchorage search: You can search for anchorages in the area that have previously been created by other users of the app
The app offers skippers an additional layer of security for anchor watch on and below deck. Anchor is an essential tool for every captain and boat owner to enjoy peaceful nights and worry-free days on the water. Please note that Anchor is intended as a supplement to established anchoring safety protocols and not as a replacement for professional marine techniques or nautical knowledge.
