I want to love it but it is very slow to load, which has discouraged me from using it. I want to spend as little time as possible on my phone and digging around in my apps, especially if all I’m trying to do is log my reading, and sadly the loading time for Hardcover makes it unusable for me. Unsure if it’s specific to my phone model or iOS version, but every other app I’ve tried using recently has been quite snappy, so it’s hard to say.
So unexpected!!
I started using Readerly before they closed down and this is the first app I have loved the same amount. It’s pretty, it’s detailed, and it imports from both good reads and StoryGraph!! I love love love it!
Love the app, however…
The app is very good. It is probably one of the best looking apps I have ever seen and has all the functionality of a book tracking app however I do have a complaint and I would love to see it get fixed. First is the app keeps redirecting me to the website which is pretty annoying and when I go back it’s a blank screen and I have to refresh the app.
Can’t Create an Account
I tried on the iphone app and on the mobile website, and in both occasions clicking the ‘join hardcover’ button did nothing. I typed and confirmed a passeo, also made sure to click the tos checkbox.
update1: was able to create account, but can’t set it up. Increased 1 star to 2.
Goodreads Killer
Hardcover is a fantastic bookish app that brings together everything a reader needs—reviews, tracking your book lists, interacting with other book lovers, and comparing reading metrics. However, there’s still room for improvement. It would be great if they added trope and spice level tags to books, which are becoming essential for many readers. Also, the streak tracking gauge could use an upgrade—the current design resembles the GitLab contribution map and isn’t the most user-friendly if you’re not a developer. Lastly, their server response could be improved, as the app tends to crash and sometimes takes a while to load lists. Despite these small issues, it’s still a solid app for organizing and tracking your reading life.
Good but need few things to be great
I love every single option provided by this app but it is still buggy crashing every now and then and need a refresh button and plz plz plz add a light option for the background and an option for choosing what page to open when the app starts
Still can’t complete setup
Setup process has me in a loop and I can’t complete the account setup process without it glitching and signing me out, only to have to input all my info again. Still can’t get to the library page or add any books.
Great for social book discovery & tracking
I love being able to track everything I want to read, what I’ve read and see what others with similar tastes also read.
The match percentage is great for getting a quick guess if I’ll enjoy a book based on my reading history.
