The app appears ok although the instructions on connecting the Wi7 radiator are nothing short of abysmal. Update: loses connection frequently even though only 4 metres from radiator then have to go through whole rigmarole of trying to reconnect with instructions that don’t relate to my radiator. Smart box waste of money!
I don’t understand why it has to be so complicated we have Hive in the rest of the house and only have Haverland in our conservatory, we are looking to change to something else even if we have to pay to do it.
Enabling geolocation now causes this app to crash. This is a key feature as it enables a reduction in energy usage while away from the house, so not having it makes the app somewhat redundant.
This app does the job and is reliable, but there are some features which would be so helpful. Like having the option of 30min increments instead of 1 hour, as if I get up at 7.15 the heating either has to be on from 6am and it costs me more than needed, or 7am and it’s not warm enough. Also the option of a 1 hour boost. So my heating is due to come on at 5pm, but if I’m in early I’ll manually put it on, but I then have to remember to go back in and switch back over to auto. As this isn’t something I do very often I sometimes forget and again that’s extra heating costs. Being able to adjust remotely and set different schedules is great, but these two additions would make it so much more user friendly and energy efficient.
I bought my first Haverland radiator some time (5 years?) ago. Can’t fault them and really pleased with the wifi control system. Rock solid, never goes down, genuinely set up an leave. Punches it’s way through my thick walls. App makes it easy to add new radiators. The app is 100% dependable and is easy to use. In places it is not entirely intuitive - but that is a minor gripe. The one irritation for me is that the mandatory difference between comfort and eco temperatures is too large. At 4 deg C , I either have the temperature lower than I want at eco, or higher than I want at comfort. Don’t know if this is down to the the app or the heater - but either way, it would be a tiny software change to fix.
I’ve had my heaters 6 years now, 6 years of having to use this awful app, if you manage to see these reviews prior to buying the heaters, do yourself and favour and buy elsewhere. The time lags between tapping/instruction is very frustrating, never bothered trying to hook up to Alexa as I think it would finish me off.
The latest 2023 update is a massive backwards step. Functionality is less, modes have gone from easy access front screen and often the app ‘locks up’ and appears to do nothing. I can have the heaters set in auto mode yet the screen tells me they are pumping out heat at 20c when they are supposedly in the ‘off’ cycle. Annoyingly the app also now seems to often log me out, meaning I have to go searching for the password as it won’t let me choose my own password or allow the password manager on my iPhone to save it. This should be so much better, maybe if the developer actually tried using it first it would improve, or otherwise I think my grandchildren could do a better job. Sort it out!
Why on earth have you decided to hide the modes from the main heater screen? You have all that real estate on the iPhone screen, but you have decided to “update” the app and make it unusable. Put the modes back where they obviously should be. It is ridiculous that this ever got passed for release. And the set point temperatures no longer reflect what I have programmed. Basically an app that achieves nothing and destroys something that worked. It is a MASSIVE backwards step. I now have at least twice as many clicks to achieve a simple change of mode. Useless update. Give me the old app anytime. You cannot even see what mode you are in when you access the individual heater screen!!! What is the point of this?
This app has never been great but it’s just been made significantly worse. Why would you hide the modes behind another layer of menus? In The short term you’d be better off reverting to the previous design. In the long term you’d benefit from hiring a competent UX designer
