Macro and micro nutrients

QuarkUnit on

United States

I use this app to track nutrients. I do strength training and use the macro nutrient tracker to make sure that I’m getting enough protein. The micronutrient tracker helps me to identify micronutrients that I’m falling short on and it also recommends foods that are high in them. Potassium is a good example of a micronutrient that most Americans don’t get enough of and I learned that potatoes are the best source, not bananas.

No more exercise integration

Just updated to the latest version. Disappointed that they no longer allow integration with Fitbit. Will have to go back to manually entering exercise.

Really good but can be great

This app is very cool. Especially when you want to keep track of specific things… like how much vitamin d you’re consuming, or how much fiber or calcium, etc. I’ve absolutely loved it. I feel like it’s not about loosing weight, it’s about being healthy. I recommend it to everyone but I do have one complaint which drives me nuts and makes it less reliable… Their catalog of foods isn’t as large and the nutrition facts aren’t as accurate as the Lose it! app, and the barcode scanning tool rarely allows me to find what I’m searching for. So I always have to do the searches manually and, while I know these apps are not perfectly accurate, this one feels more like it’s giving me a much more of a vague idea of what I’m consuming.

Great app to track nutrition!

I love how this app isn’t all about calories, it’s about what you’re fueling your body with! I like to make sure my nutrition is at least an 80% every single day and strive for 90%. It’s made life a lot simpler guessing what foods to put in my body. Alongside some supplements, I am feeling much better. My health feels more complete and it is very encouraging! One thing I will note is that if I manually enter something, sometimes it says there’s an error when there is not. Also, the app sometimes closes out on it’s own after hitting submit to add a food. I go back into the app and sometimes it has tracked it, and sometimes I need to re-enter. Other than that, I am so happy this app exists!! Thank you so much to whoever made this, you’ve truly changed my life :)

Nutrition tracking is great but the app is horrible

Bob24242424 on

This is one of the few nutrition apps that track potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, etc. and from that standpoint it is great. However it regularly gives me errors that aren’t really errors. One example is that when I am manually entering a food, it tells me that either the calories or the carbs or something us wrong. I can’t get past that error and I have to skip that food. I have actually reported this, but it continues to happen. Today it tells me that I am off line which I am not. I am connected to my Wi-Fi and it continues to tell me that I am not connected. I have rebooted my phone and reloaded the app to no avail. I’m going to have to find me another app unfortunately.

Great app, but crashes and is clunky

I LOVE this app and have been using it for years to track macros... however it is very slow and crashes almost every time I use it. Recently has gotten worse. Hoping to see improvements, would rate 5✨ if it functioned more smoothly and was more stable

Great Tracker, but with bugs - seems to be abandoned

maryann117 on

Used to pretty good, but expected improvements over time. I’ve reported numerous bugs, but the app has never been updated. It appears to be abandoned, so I will now look elsewhere. I agree with the comments from Maven802. The app is really good at tracking micronutrients. I have been using it for about 2 months. I continue to use it, but it has a number of quirks/bugs and limitations that users need to be aware of: - If you go back to relook at the serving size of a food you have already entered and do not re-save it, the entry defaults back to it's original default serving size. As an example if I pick 1 ounce, save it, then want to see the micronutrients association with that item, and don't resave it after I look at the nutrients, the serving will default back to 3 ounces if that's the default for that particular food. - The app randomly does not save items, especially on the tracker list. - Why limit the tracker to only 8 items? - There is no way to know if a micronutrient is 0 or is missing from the database. I would suggest a "-" in lieu of a 0 so the user knows the information is missing and cannot be relied upon. - Every entry that I have run into that only has a "100g" measurement and no others does the conversion wrong. As an example, Distilled White Vinegar - by Giant has a serving size of "15 ml (100g)". 15 ml of vinegar is not 100g, 15 ml is 15 g, so all calculations associated with this would be wrong. I have found this to occur over and over again for any food that only has a "equivalent" of 100g measurement and it's always wrong, so the user has to be very careful. - If you enter a custom food, there is no way to change anything if you make a mistake. You must delete it and start over. Entering custom food is not easy - generally you will have g or mg, but most things need to be entered as a % of the recommended daily requirement. So, it's not easy and if you make a mistake, then it's back to square 1. - The app does not take into account user defined limits for all micronutrients. As an example, I have set a lower limit for sodium at 2500 mg. It doesn't matter what I have for sodium as long as I'm under the max I get a "green" rating. As it turns out, I really NEED at least 2500 mg of sodium, and if I'm below that the tracker should not show green. - Trackers disappear for no reason and have to be re-added. Some basic enhancements would be very helpful: - The ability to create a new food, from an existing entry wo

Love this App!

This is one of the best free apps available that provides so much information. Will there be an update that might include Apple Watch tracking as well as water tracking?

Could have been a great app

I love the mechanics of this app. It is easy to use, the Daily Report nicely summarized your day, it’s one of the few app that tracks more than just your standard calorie & a handful of nutrients. Sadly, the food database is much smaller than MyFitnessPal, there are many errors for the food that is in the database, and there is no clear way to submit to or correct items in the database. I’ve been using the app for 3 days now and there are many big name products where there is no barcode in the database. Approximations are nice, but if I am going to pay for an app, it better be at the top of its game and not some wanna be. My suggestion is to work on your food database it really is lacking by comparison to other similar apps.
