HeartCast Reviews

detected by PM5 but does not work continuously

Lichy451 on

This app was recommended to me as a way to have my Apple Watch broadcast the heart rate to the concept2 PM5 unit. It connects successfully to the unit in the menu (and even displays the heart rate) but for some reason fails to keep broadcasting during an actual workout (no reading for HR is visible on the PM5).

Eindelijk Apple Watch connectie met Hammerhead Karoo2!

Blij dat ik eindelijk met de Apple Watch mijn hartslag kan volgen op mijn fiets gps.

More reliable than Zwift

AdequateGuy on

I started using this after a few years of struggling with Zwift’s built in Apple Watch support. This app just works when I use it to get my HR to Zwift. Sometimes I have to wait a half minute for it to pick up my HR but then it works for the full activity. I’ve probably used it 20-30 times without issue.

Yay!

Thanks for the good heart rate app. It is a little tedious to start every thing but it works.

App works but is very temperamental

Therkilt on

App works well once it is broadcasting but often it takes between two and five minutes to get the app and watch to see each other and start broadcasting the heart rate.

Simply doesn't work

AJPoe on

Tried to use this to broadcast my HR to my cycling computer. It just doesn't work.

Bummer

This did work reliably and then for some reason it doesn’t anymore. I use it to connect to my peloton. Bummer.

Difficulty with Karoo 2

GoogleReviewer77 on

I can pair and it says it’s connected, but either I’m dead or my HR is zero. Tried re-pairing with no success.

Awesome app

Thank you Shawn for putting this app together and making this app free. The app overall works with Hydrow but was a little clunky in getting it to connect but did stay connected during workouts. Only feature I would ask for is the ability to change your broadcast name of your heart rate monitor. It does take a few tries to connect but overall the UI is good. Thanks again for this app it is a lifesaver for something Hydrow should have originally added in their platform.

Cumbersome to start

SoCalSLL on

United States

Not sure if the problem lies with the app or Apple or my Wahoo Bolt. The only way to make it work is to start the workout in Heartcast on the watch, then quickly toggle Bluetooth in the iPhone settings (off-on). Only then will the connection work. At least there is a workaround and the app is free.
