Excellent drummer for practice and more
I used to complain that there's no Toontrack EZDrummer for iOS. On the Mac, I often use EZD instead of a metronome when improvising, practising or composing. Now I've found an alternative that works great as an 'inspiring metronome' – HeyDrummer (HD). When trying out the first version of HD, I complained that the AU version of HD didn't respect Garage Band count-in (in the standalone HD app, you can set the number of count-in bars). Well, just a couple of days after an amiable dialog with the developer, Christian Voigt, here is already an updated AU HeyDrummer that plays nice with GB count-in! How is that for support? I'm really happy now, since HeyDrummer is an excellent drummer app that could even work for some demos, not just as a nice metronome. Granted, HD is far from a fully fledged EZDrummer, but it fills its intended role admirably, and then some. The sound is great, there's ample variation of styles and meters and I suspect that Christian might keep adding odd meters, including (hopefully) some jazz waltz alternatives. ;-) HeyDrummer is a solid piece of work that fills a hitherto neglected iOS slot for practising, for simple demos and just noodling for fun.
