Edit many tracks side-by-side, mix them together, and export to Wave or MP4 format — then transfer them to your computer, send them to another app on your device, or upload to cloud services.

Hokusai is streamlined to give you a clean, clear view of your tracks. Use the familiar pinch and swipe gestures to zoom right in and fiddle with fine detail, or step back to see the big picture. Select pieces of audio. Live "scrubbing" means you can hear the sound under your fingertip as you make your adjustments. And you needn't fear a bad edit with our full undo/redo support — even after closing your project.

Hokusai comes free with a set of useful tools such as fade in/out, normalise volume levels, reverse time, and basic synthesis. If you need more power, you can upgrade from inside the app to add new tools and effects, including: Per-track volume/mute/panning, selecting across multiple tracks at once, presets and favourites, grain synthesis, noise gating, time-stretching, pitch-bending, echo, reverb, modulation (AM & FM), resonance, distortion, grunge, vocal levelling, monster voice, high/low/band-pass/notch-cut filter and more — many of which can be previewed live.

Great app

Honestly got me what I needed, great for just starters

Can’t import Apple Music

This app was recommended to me by a friend as her mixes are great, but I cannot import any of my Apple Music due to copyright issues, and it’s the same on any music editing app. I have no idea how my friend does it, but it’s such a shame, as medleys would have been good for me to use as a dancer. Any recommendations on how I can use my music library would be welcome

Auto Tune

I think I cool new feature to use for music recorders would be Pitch Pitch correction witch is pretty much auto tune. Also to chance the speed and pitch of a vocal

Disappointed

The app is alright. There are a few fundamental flaws, you can’t cut audio you have to copy, past, delete which is very unintuitive. The interface is all one colour which makes it easy to loose track of what’s what, colour coding tracks would be a good edition. I contacted the developer to see how to cut audio and was directed to one of their other apps that would do that. However the other app is nearly 3 times the price at £28.99. To be totally honest I’m a little disappointed and can’t see me using this long term which is a shame as it has some good plus points.

Almost good

This app is frustrating. It looks like it will do what I need it to do which is multi track editing, but you can’t move audio clips around, they all start from 0 seconds unless i insert it at the right time, but then I still can’t sync properly. If this is was a feature, I think i could actually use this app

Ideal

Just what I was looking for. I could easily have just used the free version. But as it’s the only audio app I found thar works , the way I want, I splashed out the ££ for the full version. Absolutely worth it. Thanks.

Very frustrating to use

I wanted something to trim long audio files, taking out gaps etc and making loops. This seemed to be ideal but it has taken me so long to do easy tasks that I can’t recommend it Trimming is very good, but if you use the Loop function to help get this find tuned there is always a glitch as it restarts. This caused me to waste so much time as I thought it was me not getting it right. There is a loop fx that works well, but you have to go in and out of this. Not productive at all. I can find no way to move or nudge the audio once it’s in a track. I’ve read the help manual, it doesn’t help at all.

Looking good

I briefly tried the freebie version on a test file and finding it workable, went for the paid version. All my previous years of editing audio files have been done on a desktop box, so this interface needed a little familiarisation but eventually got there. Second file was a recently unearthed 48 year old vinyl recording of my late mother, so this software got a decent workout. A lot of useful features and I think it will take some time to use/try them all, some certainly need careful thought. This is not software for those that need instant gratification but for those who are happy to work for good results. Only improvement I’d like to see is knowing what will be undone/redone at the point of hitting the icon. As I really prefer a desktop app, it would be great to see this ported by Catalyst to macOS. Excellent app, if you need to edit audio files.
