Homebase - Smart Apartments

An update pushed December 11th broke the main app and it took a day to get a fix. While this issue had a work around, a future bug might not. Always have a backup method. Request your building give you a physical key/tag.

The app is basically useless, because it takes 30 seconds to connect to anything. That’s when it works. You can tell the positive reviews are from people that work for them, or people who never actually have to use the app.

If you’re a landlord and despise your tenants get this app. If you’re an everyday Joe, don’t get this app. A conventional lock works so much better, instead of just grabbing my keys to lock or unlock a door, I have to grab my phone, log in, hope it works, and maybe just maybe I will be able to get in my house. If it was up to me, I would never have their inconsistent locks. There is no ease of access with this app or lock, they somehow made a system that has been proven to work, and made it worse. If there is one thing in life that you can do, it is 100% to not support this company and their idiotic ideas.

This app works very fast and is super convenient! I work in the leasing office at a HomeBase community and their app has made our resident’s lives and office staff’s workload a lot better. It is so easy for everyone to use. The two super small issues we had (between 600 residents, only two issues) were VERY quickly resolved by their support team. HIGHLY recommend HomeBase!

Homebase is in every way a downgrade from a conventional system. The app fails to offer any utility advantages as a smart home system but does introduce additional points of failure. Security of your home can be compromised by losing your phone and forgetting to charge your phone can result in a lockout. The system doesn’t have any place for a normal key in the lock so your phone is the only way to get in. Also unlocking your door can take a while, especially the first few times can take minutes

I’m in a rush to get to work but I have to stand in front of my apt and wait for the app to load to lock my door just irritates me.

When setting up an account, I follow the requirements to make a valid password and I always receive an error code saying that the fields don’t match. The app has been updated and the problem still remains. Additionally when you click anything related to app support you’re redirected to a 404 error page. After another update I am here to say that the app still does not accept any password I put in. If you have to rely on this app to enter your apartment, I wish you good luck.
