HomeDevices for HomeKit

Although this app looks like something unnecessary, it is not. I’m actually getting started into HomeKit and messing a lot with bridges, and accessories, etc. With this app, I can know what to expect and guess which device I should get. It helps me orientate when getting into the Apple home ecosystem.

Shortly after I installed the app, I started receiving YouTube notifications that a channel I don’t subscribe to has uploaded a new video. Not too coincidentally, it’s from the same channel where the host highly recommended the app. Pretty suspect.

Great app, hope Secure Router workability was included. Some brands require a ‘phone home’ just to work (including Aqara & Flic) which is unnecessary and shouldn’t be allowed without pre-purchase notification to prospective customers. Other brands (including Wemo & Meross) function in restrict to home mode but the devices’ LEDs blink conspicuously while in restrict to home mode.

It’s awesome to compare or discover products. Just a question, can you create two sections to separate indoor and outdoor cameras? That will be awesome

Too many missing categories and product manufacturers. For example, there is no category for HomeKit Routers. Under leak detectors, the company Fibaro is missing. There’s no HOOBS/HomeBridge section, so a ton of products that can be added to HomeKit are missing. These are a few examples off the top of my head.

I love this app and really wanted to give it 5 stars. It includes an insane amount of great information about HomeKit products. The only thing holding it back from getting 5 stars in my estimation is the lack of a filter to show only devices that support Thread. If I enter the term “Thread” in search I only see one product because it’s only looking at the titles. I am completely sold on Thread (and Matter eventually) and I would prefer to buy products that support Thread if they are available. I was disappointed that this otherwise wonderful resource did not make that easy to do.

Chock-a-block full of great information about HomeKit devices. It’s free. How can you go wrong?

But this app is extremely helpful, updated regularly, and is a great user experience.

Seriously, if you’re into HomeKit, this app is amazing. Beautiful design, nice responsive UI, and perfect motivation to spend more money on HomeKit toys 😀
