Houston Public Media Reviews

Crap App

12C Weenie on

United States

Constantly malfunctions. Constant interruptions in the middle of programming for “commercial breaks” otherwise known as requests for donations over and above the ones that air during the programming. You will miss out on the most relevant part of the story

Never updates

Froooooom on

United States

I always have to update it but it never updates. I have to do this over and over again.

Needs a few improvements

BKGuY on

United States

Use this daily but needs two improvements: 1) should turn for landscape view 2) requires update almost every time I launch. Not sure why as it only opens App Store but doesn’t have to download a lot.

Clunky

Alohomora84 on

United States

Needs work to make it less clunky. Every time I open the app, it tells me I can’t use it until I update it, but there isn’t an update to install. It finally opens after several extra steps. Quality content as always.

Only works when iPad unlocked

Texasnutmeg on

United States

Love the concept but it has stopped working properly. It shuts off every time my iPad screen locks. I have restarted, deleted and re-installed multiple times but it still shuts off. I don’t want my screen open.

CarPlay Support Removed

Why did the new version remove CarPlay support!?! That was a key feature.

Quite useful, but a little annoying

Knarf Lekcem on

United States

The app has worked well for years. I am not sure what the upgrades have done, but now, every time you open it, it claims to have to be updated. So it takes you through the App Store where you end up selecting open. Why? Please fix the encoding! Thanks.

needs work for iPad

notuncajeff on

United States

The basic functionality works fine, but it’s phone-oriented. It doesn’t seem to work in background in iPadOS 14, and it doesn’t switch to landscape mode when you tilt the iPad that way. In other words, you can’t use HPM as background music while you continue to use the iPad for other things.
