Howl

Dark fairy-tale world

Description

This game is free to download and play for a limited number of levels and time. Do you like the game? Then you can easily unlock the full version through the in App purchase!
Howl is a turn-based puzzle/tactical folktale set in the Middle Ages, where a mysterious "howling plague" ravages the land. Any who hear the beasts’ howls turn into feral, hungering beasts themselves – further spreading the curse through their own howls. The Heroine of this tale was born deaf, giving her a unique protection against this curse.
Play as a daring combat Prophet with the ability to foretell your enemies’ moves. Plan up to six steps ahead to outmaneuver your enemies. Fire a variety of arrows, such as exploding, lightning, or piercing shots, and use skills like Smoke Bombs and Shadow Step’s Invisibility to kill any beasts who stand in your way. Each type of beast offers its own challenges, with some approaching fast, while others taking more powerful hits or attacking from afar.
Howl's visuals are created through "living ink", a flowing art style that paints the story as you play. Carve your way through a dark, fairy-tale world made up of obscure yet magical places where you fight to rid the lands of the howling plague.
Howl features a total of 5 chapters, including the free Heart of Rot update, each with a distinct visual atmosphere scored by soothing music. Access to this update is FREE for anyone who has bought the Howl base game. You can access this update chapter from the Chapter 3 map at any point after reaching Chapter 3 of the main story.
This update features its own chapter map, new enemies, a new boss level, new environment mechanics, the new Lightning Shot skill (which, once unlocked, can be used in the main game!), and an NPC who fights by your side in later levels.

• Foretell the actions of your enemies in turn-based puzzle/tactics combat.
• Play through 60 levels across 4 chapters, plus 18 new levels in the free update chapter!

Howl Reviews

Just finished to demo and loved it

I litterally only just finished the demo and im already in love with it. I also love how they let you teat out the game before you actually buy in and play the full version. Also, It is a pretty low price for such a hogh quality game.

A wonderful challenge

Sonicator844 on

This game is gorgeous, the music is lovely, and the voice acting is on point. The only complaint I have is, like everyone else, that if you are on the leftmost column of the map you can’t shoot arrows because the card is covered by the UI. Well, that and I would like more of the game but I think it may be better at this length.

Could use a few more UI tweaks

Gave them the benefit of the doubt based on the prompt response to a bug report and bought the full game, but no updates since. Unimpressed.

Excellent Game, As others say, some UI issues

Picked up this game sometime last week and have been playing it quite frequently! Very enjoyable artistic style and strategy! Difficult enough for you to spend a little time planning and being creative while not being overly frustrating. The story doesnt especially grab me; I loved the different maps for the chapters, and really liked that you could demo the first few before paying to really get a taste of the game. That being said, as others have mentioned, the UI gets tricky to navigate when cards start covering each other up. I was able to make it through the game anyways, but not without some trial and error. All in all, I definitely think its worth the money and was a very enjoyable game! Im hoping to go back through and collect all the achievements.

Great game, BAD PORT. Not fully playable, wait for fix

Ok the game itself is really fun, however it’s clear that they put little to no effort in porting this from PC. Sometimes, the UI element you need to touch, especially the arrow, is hidden by other UI elements such as the banner along the side. A sliver will be showing and if you try 1000 times you might be able to select the arrow. Otherwise, RIP. Also, the instructions tell you to hover over an element to find out something about it via tooltips. However, there is no hover on an iPad. So i can’t do that. I’ve tried tapping, long pressing, etc, but when a new enemy type appears I have to just guess what it does. Very lazy port. Please test your game prior to release.

Gorgeous on iPad, UI needs a tweak

Love this absolutely beautiful story about hope in the face of overwhelming adversity, art style is so unique and well done 🥰 It’s a tough puzzle game but doesn’t punish you for making mistakes- it encourages you to try again. Working out a new section of a particularly tricky puzzle is so satisfying, I find myself more interested in trying something else than I am bummed I died. All that being said, the card system should be brought forward, over the UI, so it can be used when the level goes further off the screen. I love the captions but I hate that they also sometimes block the cards.

Great Game

The game is great 👍 it has really nice gameplay with predictable enemies which is nice. The eerie story and the medieval art style comes together nicely.

Good - needs some UI improvement

Really fun! I’m enjoying the challenges and the story. So far I’ve noticed one issue where I can’t select my arrow card if my character is on the left edge of the screen. The banner covers it up.

Woke rubbish

You’re forced to play as a disabled female character. Something tells me she has creative pronounce as well. To top it off the female narrator’s broken English, whispering voice makes you want to throw the phone out the window. Pass and uninstalled.

Excelente

El juego está muy muy bien, está bien hecho y tiene una estética preciosa, la forma de jugarlo me parece muy interesante, pero llega el momento en que ya no puedes jugar si no pagas, eso es lo único malo
