Better alternatives
The only good things are pace of learning and the frequent tests. Everything else about this app is worse than most apps I’ve tried.
- There’s no option to turn off pinyin. You can’t learn to read Chinese characters with pinyin.
- Often gets stuck where you can hear it but can’t press any buttons.
- Ambiguous answers where the answer could be 50/50
- too much explanation of grammar and half of it is not even translated.
- Tracking your progress is a mess. It tells you you have started a lesson but have no idea which one.
Overall this was a waste of money and there are definitely better alternatives to spend your money on like HelloChinese, Anki or even the same company’s app SuperChinese.
The best app to pass any HSK exam
I’ve been using this app for many years now and it has helped me pass HSK 1 & 2. Currently studying for HSK 3 and this app is invaluable.
My wife is Chinese so I purchased the lifetime plus package for obvious reasons. I have never looked back since. I would recommend waiting for a seasonal sale to get the best deals.
I’ve just tried their new MAX AI and I must say, it’s pretty impressive. It’s a bit pricey but if your committed to learning Chinese fluency, then it’s worth the price. Even my wife was impressed by the AI!
For casual learner, I would say HelloChinese and SuperChinese are mush better, as this app can be quite serious/formal.
Love this app and I’m sure new users will too.
Brilliant App and Great Customer Service
I have been using this app for the last 5 months and it’s really helped me move up a couple of HSK levels from HSK 2-4. I love that there is a variety of exercises including, grammar, reading and listening.
I accidentally lost my phone and access to my account so had to contact customer services to try and regain access. They were really helpful and sorted the situation within a day.
I highly recommend for anyone who is studying for HSK!
Is strong enough
It's good to improve my Chinese language
Absolutely fantastic app
A great companion to its sister app SuperChinese.
It was exercises that shape you up through the HSK levels with quizzes, and listening exercises with phrases in context, not just boring, impractical flash cards where you’re expected to learn one word at a time without context.
I’m self studying Chinese and this is in my practice routine along with SuperChinese.
I don’t have time to a more helpful and in depth review, just try it out.
Not adeguate past hsk2
Excellent for HSK1 and 2, but totally inadequate to prepare you for HSK3. From that point on you will need to be able to read mandarin, but the previous sections don’t have an option to remove the pinyin so you will need to study reading elsewhere or stop after HSK2.
Only allows 5 minutes a day
This is a great app and would have given 5 stars if there wasn’t a 5 minute limit on each day. I am not a VIP member therefore I can only do a certain amount a day. I am really interested in learning mandarin and this app is great ,however I can only make little progress with the time I am given each day.
Great app, thanks
I am self studying Mandarin, this app helps my revision and to consolidate what I have learnt, also to improve my listening skills. Expensive, but well worth the investment for a good quality resource if you want to learn Chinese.
Great
Great app only wish the writing practice would show your actual handwriting
Brilliant resource
An amazing app, especially for the first 3 HSK levels. Very good vocab test interface, complete with sentences that include the new words. All mocks and past papers are on the app - making it perfect for people like me who hate carrying around books. Good luck in your studies!
