Does not load

We have a hub and this app does not connect to it

Previous App Much Better

302anon on

This apps seems half baked compared to the previous one. Nothing works as well. The charts and graphs are hard to use. Stats don't go back far enough to to allow you to compare to last year. Live doesn't seem to work as well. Why switch? Please bring back the old app. This one isn't worth the effort. I'll just stop using the hub if the app isn't fixed. This app isn't worth the effort.

Better Solar integration, but still has rough spots

BHansen Victoria on

We were one of the early testers for the HydroHome hub and app, and are happy to see that some features are improved. However the app still has some irritating issues. The live data view presents solar generation (power fed to grid) more clearly now. The overall appearance of the UI is attractive, and more information is shown per screen (which is good on a tablet, but I don’t know how well it presents on a phone). When first setting up the new app, it requests authorization from BCHydro and during that step the user must accept a license agreement. Annoyingly, someone forgot to account for the time it takes to read that agreement, and the login process to BCHydro times out after half a minute. I had to login 5 times to read the entire agreement! I suspect most people just click <accept> without reading through to the end, but programmers need to make more effort in anticipating various use scenarios.

Time is off

Time in the app is off by 3 hours. Maybe they programmed it for the centre of the universe but it makes it pretty useless in BC UPDATE; they did a bunch of app updates and the time is still off by 3h . Useless

Rough start

torpesco on

Canada

The old app worked better. The circular graph for single day usage was nicer to use in the old app. Now I have to tap on each individual hour. Rotating the wheel felt much easier. I also couldn’t figure out how to exit the “zoomed in” view at first. How about an “X” or “<“ somewhere? Tapping “Reset Calendar” for that makes no sense to me. Temp defaults to Fahrenheit?! When I first logged in I got an error and was told to contact support. I was able to get around that and see usage data, but the dashboard says “sorry, an error occurred”. Bug: Don’t slide your finger around on the bar chart in the day view. The bars rapidly jump up and down, and the app stops being able to load the data and display any usage info.

Way better in the trial app

meechellyy on

I don’t have a hub, but I loved the ease of the trial app in showing me my usage, my goals, and great tips. This app is clunky (much less intuitive UI, I have to re-sign into BC hydro almost everytime I open it), auto focuses on hub-related information (making it way less useful to me), and overall a downgrade from the trial app. I was really excited for this and disappointed doesn’t even begin to explain. I’m going to uninstall this app.

Dumpster fire

jaheku on

I can’t believe they are releasing a new app that is this bad and broken. The previous app was very basic, but it worked. This one is just embarrassing at every level. Serious bugs everywhere and a terribly designed unintuitive UI. They clearly went with the lowest bidder for the development of this.

Not intuitive.

Rkd1009 on

Not intuitive. Too many clicks to see the live and day usage. Graphs should be on main or first tab. Also user should be able to change the display to light appearance.

Is okay put you will need to spend $180.00 for a hub to get the information that you need. Without it it's very basic most things are locked .

Can’t Log In

Jrod61 on

Canada

Previous app worked and I could monitor my hourly usage but new app say no eligible customer exists. Called support and they are looking into it, said they would send me an email with ticket #, no email came….wondering if they’ll call me when they figure this out???? Sorry BC Hydro your new app isn’t very reliable, efficient or helpful.
