Level 2 at the price of Level 3
Saw this at a local grocery store and figure I give it a try. Then I saw the price $0.40/kW at 8kWh. Shell is up the street and costs $0.50 at 180kWh. Insane!
Yes, Hypercharge is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Setup seems straightforward, until it’s not. I can charge for free at my workplace, but the app seems to require funds/credit card for you to charge at all. You cannot keep charging and pay through your credit card if account funds/credits run out.
The Hypercharge chargers are installed at my work and I like them for the most part. The thing I don’t like is you have to keep your account topped up. Yesterday I put my vehicle on charge and after 8 hours realized it had stopped charging after an hour because my account ran out. They have my card on file why can’t they let me fully charge and take the money from my card?
0 stars on systems like this Why do I need an app? Why do I need an account? Why do I need to top up an account and carry a balance? Imagine if gas stations were like this, stupid right? Add Credit Card readers to your charge points Be part of the solution, not part of the problem
Need to logon every time I use the app, they cannot design something as simple as their competitors? They started locally in vancouver, have not seen one charger outside of my building.
I use the chargers at my gym and after a few initial hiccups when they were first installed, I have found them to be very reliable. When I did have an issue, the support guy got on it immediately. The app is super easy to use, 3 simple steps.
What more could you want? It is the simplest and most seamless of the apps I’ve tried and gets me in and out fast.
I’ve used this app 6 times in the last week, and I’ve only been successful 1/6 times. First of all it’s really time consuming/annoying to find your charger on the app compared to ChargePoint (which you can use tap), and then when you finally find it, it takes at least 30 seconds to connect. If connected (gotten 4 timeouts so far, had to move the car to a different station) I’ve been getting random charging rates. Some stations it takes 8 hours to charge fully, other ones 2 hours. I was still charged the same amount regardless of the power rate I was receiving. For the instances that the charger couldn’t connect, I saw I was charged. I reported it through the app multiple times, but still no response/refund. Horrible experience, too bad we were forced to use this at my gym. Otherwise would never stop by these stations in the city.
