IdentaFly: A.I. Fly Fishing

I picked up this app and paid for a month subscription just so I could help me identify all these flies in my box. I must’ve taken 15 photographs and an identified almost none of them.

I found this highly unreliable….very clear misses

I love this app! I’m new to fly fishing and was having trouble choosing flies and also knowing what flies I have. The app worked great. I looked up Midge and used the flies it recommended and actually caught fish!!!!!!

Excited fir this app, unfortunately it does not work consistently. Followed instructions carefully, out of 10 flies only identified 2.

This app has great features other than the AI fly identifier. I love the fly box, it helps me remember what I need to buy at the fly shop. It also gives you fly options based on the local bugs. I have really enjoyed using it!

This is a great idea. Unfortunately, the app was only able the identify 50% of the flies scanned. It recognized the basic flies (that are already well known) but was unable to get even close on others that aren’t as obvious. This will improve over time…but isn't ready for prime time yet.

The fly fishing world hasn’t exactly embraced technology. But if you are new to angling or just like cool apps, this is worth checking out. Is it perfect and its AI knows every fly? No. But I don’t care. It’s fun to use and has other useful features.
