It’s awesome for live radio and idobi podcasts!!
that being said, solid app :)
only downloading for josh dun sorry❤️
I tried to listen to a podcast on the app to hear a sneak peak to a song and it kept cutting to the same ad every 25 seconds, overlapping the podcast. I’m extremely disappointed. Disgusting design.
I finally decided to give the Idobi app a shot because I’m a big pop-punk fan who also likes having songs chosen for me a’la traditional radio. The app is pretty straight forward and sound quality is decent. Three things I encountered that could be done better: 1. The 3 different stations could be explained better in the app - I deduced quickly that one was more for hardcore music based on the artists played but a little description below each station button would be nice. 2. “Now playing” lag - the audio stream would always be one or two songs ahead of what the app said was playing. It makes music discovery a challenge because you can’t quickly figure out what you’re listening to at a glance. 3. Despite being in a area with strong signal, I couldn’t get the app to actually play music once despite the play icon changing and volume turned up. If these bugs were fixed (esp 2 and 3) and a way to bookmark the currently playing song were available, this would be a killer app. Alas, it doesn’t look like they’ve updated this in a while, maybe due to a lack of downloads? Hopefully seeing this review will inspire them to keep improving the app for the small yet passionate group of alt-rock fans out there like myself! 🤟 Update: 7/15/19 - The app has gotten a lot better in terms of reliability (the music plays consistently now upon choosing a station) and layout (the three stations are now clearly explained so you know what you’re getting into). However, there’s still the issue of the now playing description/album art lagging behind what’s playing. It’s far less of a thing these days but it still happens. Also, there’s a share button when you’re listening to a song that lets you save a image. I thought this would allow me to go back and look up songs I liked for later in Spotify or whatever by looking through my photos so I saved a bunch of them. It doesn’t do what I thought it would do. It just saves the album art instead of the entire screen with the artist and song title. If the app doesn’t load the album art then you just see blank generic blue squares in your Camera Roll. This was really frustrating because I wanted to check out songs later and discover new music while on the go but can’t if there’s no way to bookmark the songs while I’m driving or walking somewhere. Would love a way to bookmark what I listen to on Idobi, even if it’s just a text list within the app sorted by when I bookmarked the song.
