iDocCam is an app that allows you to control your iPhone’s camera in real-time, and even turn it into a document camera for large-screen projection. You may subscribe to iDocCam either on a monthly or yearly basis.
There are 3 ways to use it:
1. Use iDocCam as a standalone app.
Use it as a standalone app to view and adjust live images captured by your iPhone’s camera.
2. Use iDocCam with IPEVO Visualizer software
Install iDocCam on your iPhone. And then, install IPEVO Visualizer software on a computer, tablet, or smart TV*. Connect your iPhone and your device to the same wireless network. Launch iDocCam and Visualizer respectively*.
After that, choose your iPhone as the camera source in Visualizer. You’ll then be able to view the live images of your iPhone’s camera in Visualizer. You can then control and adjust the live images using Visualizer.
And if you connect your device to a projector, the live images will be projected onto a large screen, turning your iPhone into a document camera instantly.
*For more information about IPEVO Visualizer, please visit https://www.ipevo.com/visualizer .
*If you’re using your iPhone in conjunction with Visualizer on an iOS or macOS device, you do not need to connect them to the same wireless network. You can connect them via Bluetooth instead.
3. Connect iDocCam to an external display via HDMI/VGA, or AirPlay
Launch iDocCam on your iPhone. Then, connect your iPhone to an external display via HDMI/VGA via a Lightning to HDMI/VGA adapter, or AirPlay (using Apple TV). Now you can use the external display as an extended screen to project the live images of your iPhone’s camera.

iDocCam FAQ
Is iDocCam free?
Yes, iDocCam is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is iDocCam legit?
🤔 The iDocCam app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
This looks to be a great idea! Being able to us your smart phone to connect the camera or control your document camera would have many uses as a teacher. The app downloaded easily, the functionality was nearly identical to iPEVO4 camera sitting on my desk top. All other functions, including connectivity to my school’s network were “pay-only” features. This brings me to my 2 - star rating, without enough (any) features to test out, I will not be purchasing this app.

I’d like to connect IPEVO VZ-R to the iPad Pro
I’ve got an iPad. I was hoping to find a solution to connect the IPEVO VZ-R (wired, USB-C connection) to the software. I launch it in the iPad and I only have the integrated iPad cameras to choose from. I don’t have a laptop, so I’d love to have an option for sharing an overhead view with my awesome IPEVO VZ-R while not in the studio while on zoom/google meet.
Ideally I would screen share to the iDocCam software and the app would be able to detect the connected IPEVO camera. Any thoughts on how to make that happen?
It’s great software otherwise. I’m enjoying it!
NOT free
This app requires a subscription after the first month and won’t let you even preview it without selecting a subscription. Not a fan of how that fact seems hidden
Very unreliable
I am/was having so many problems with this app It will work for a while, I could present my lessons solving math problems to the students, then the next day it doesn’t work. The following day it will work. It is so iffy, I can not rely on it. I sent an email a week ago and have heard no response from customer service. This morning I tried again and the app asked me for a password. I NEVER had nor have I set up a password to begin with. How did that happen?! I tried Logging in again later in the day and the app on the computer will not recognize the iDocCam app on my phone. Nothing changed from 2weeks ago till now. This is not the first time either. What the heck is going on?!
Was working until...
This was great until this month. I am a teacher using for recording lessons. When my subscription renewed in Sept 2020, it started putting black rectangle in upper right corner when zooming in. I bought the lifetime app for $19.99 then thinking there was something glitchy happening with subscription renewal process, but ugly rectangle is still there. I reached out to Impevo customer support but have had no response. I’m out more money, lots of wasted time, and I can’t zoom in anymore and see the whole screen. Please fix this and contact me!
Customer service
The first down load I did for this for my iPhone and Chromebook I was very disappointed. The video kept turning green and/or freeze. I emailed them with the problems I was having and I got a response in less than a day. I followed what they said and wow I am so happy now! Works great! Exactly what I needed for my virtual lessons. They even emailed me to follow up and make sure the problem was fixed.
NOT FREE
this is not free
not free to try.
Sorry, not free to try even if 1st month there is no charge. That is not free to try. App Store does not say payment is required. DELETE!
Ugh the lag time
I downloaded the app but it lags about 5-10 seconds on average. I am changing to a more reliable app. Hopefully it’s out there
Great app for remote teaching
This app is great. It gives me all of the functionality of document and eliminates the need to buy another device. I can now record whiteboard videos and demonstrate other hands on activities to my students. Every teacher who owns an iPad or iPhone should download this app. You really won’t regret it.
