Description

I wrote this program because of my own need to train my vocabulary. What I find most important is a combination of repetition and automatic progress. This App tries to achieve that. With the use of a point system. The App registers how well you know a word. If you know a word good enough, it will only ask it once in a while for the sake of repetition. When a word is classified as known, a new word is added to the next exercise.
Vocabulary/Flashcard training tool for:
- Greek (first 300 words with audio)
- Biblical Hebrew (first 300 words with audio)
- Latin (extracted from the Summa Theologiae)
- Create your own lists through the website http://vocab.idoms.org/
- Many parameters are adjustable
- A brief summary after each exercise
- You can create your own custom lists from the words in the App
- Optionally practice both ways
A lot of the parameters of the App are adjustable, and this makes it a very flexible flashcard application.
The first 50 words are for free to test the App, after that vocabulary sets can be purchased using In-App purchases. The revenue I use to pay towards my development cost such as Developer License etc.
Please be aware that you need to use the restore purchase function if you want to use the App on multiple devices. This is for free (you will never be charged twice for the same list) and the button can be found at the bottom of the list with vocabulary sets.
It is now possible to create your own vocabulary lists though an In-App upgrade!

iDoms Vocab Reviews

Clever and easy to use

James3400 on

This app is really simple to use and the repetition of words makes it easy to pick up Greek vocab. The audio feature is great for pronunciation and the scoring system keeps harder words in view longer, so there's more opportunity to learn. I haven't bought any additional vocab sets yet, but will as soon as the free ones are exhausted!

Has potential

The greek has no audio at all. The hebrew has an "audio" button, but it didn't play anything when I tried it.

This version works great. It's been difficult to find a good original languages flashcard type program. This one is quite good.

Excellent Tool

I love this app. I use it to practice Hebrew and Greek vocabulary. The vocabulary sets are a good value, and it is very usable. There are occasional bugs, but if you email them, they will fix it, and the overall value and simplicity is such that I still give it 5 stars.

I almost like it

The audio files are not really clear, I would like it if it included an English phonetic spelling. For that reason I will probably use the app until I learn the free stuff but will not ever buy more. Above all that, feel it needs work to make it more appealing.

False Impressipns - Caveat Emptor

So im a bit dissapointed to discover that this app requires you to purchase the greek and hebrew vocab cards ( separately, mind you...). It doesnt indicate that fact in the write up (unless i missed it...) -- but left me with the impression that all would be included. Juat a heads up - that adds an extra $4 and two more transactions to the affair.

I bought the full word set on my iPhone but it wants me to buy it again to use on my iPad.

Works Great! Great Tool!

Love this app. Ive had it for 6 months and I've learned 20% of the words in the NT. I can learn Greek anywhere and anytime. Ive had no problems with the app. It is a must-have for Greek students.
