Welcome to IEM Mobile! The preferred app to monitor
NWS Weather Alerts, NHC Feeds, and NWS Chat Live.
Use the IEMBOT Monitor to view specific NWS Offices
for products sent out, as they are sent out.
For more advanced users, NWS Chat Live is there for
joining specific NWS Rooms to communicate between
storm spotters, chasers, emergency management, and more.
We offer 2 versions of NWS Chat Live on the app. One version
is powered by the Iowa Environmental Mesonet of Iowa State University
and can be access by all users.
The other version of NWS Chat is powered by the National Weather Service
and can only be accessed by Emergency Officials, NWS Officials, officially
registered users through the National Weather Service.
You can also view Storm Prediction Center and National Hurricane Center
feeds through the app to view Mesoscale Discussions, Tornado and Severe
Thunderstorm Watches, Convective Outlooks, and Tropical Weather Outlooks.
Users will automatically recieve Push Notifications from the Storm Prediction
Center and National Hurricance Center if not opted-out of push notifications.
**NOTE: NWS Chat Live can work on the iPhones but will work better on the iPad and iPad Pro.

IEM Mobile FAQ

Is IEM Mobile legit?
🤔 The IEM Mobile app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Great app! But it would be great to get notifications when the NWS/SPC sends out updates. When I work I like to post updates on my weather page. It would be awesome if I got direct notifications on my phone when I can’t keep the app open. Overall great app!
It’s works, but could be better…and should be better
***UPDATE*** 20221220 // 0948CST
After the iOS 16.2 update, my notifications mysteriously started working again. This review in and of itself is NOT to state the app doesn’t work or serve it’s intended use. It’s quite useful. For an app with a developer that is a ‘one man show’, it’s quite good. The notifications are quite useful and it’s integration with IEM and NWSchat are implemented in an east-to-use and navigate fashion. Interface is clean and easy to reconcile. It took my receipt of a developer response to this to remember I even left my review, so here I am with an update.
I’d like to thank the developer for the response. Receiving feedback on feedback submitted shows you care about your app and the welfare of the app and users. I commend you on this. Keep up the good work!
———————————————————————————-
The concept of this app is good. For a person such as myself, this has a tremendous amount of potential, but without the input / commitment from budgetproductionsllc, I don’t know what to think. First and foremost, we need a way to set notifications in this app and gave them remain on. I had them working, then they just stopped pushing to my device. Makes no sense, but I can’t get them back on as there is virtually no native controllability in the app. That shocks me because this app has so much potential! When I read reviews, I noted some asking about this same thing about a year ago, and the developer referred them to the notifications setup on the website, but nowadays, the website is almost totally useless. All the website has is the ‘latest information’, which has very vague info and the links to download the app…nothing else at all, so the info must have been removed, thus making the website irrelevant for anything. The other sad thing is, the developer appeared to, at one time, be attentive to this project with a ton of possibility, but hasn’t responded to a single review in quite a long time. This is so unfortunate considering the amount of potential this has. Here’s hoping I get a response to this, but when I see devs turn silent on their reviews, it doesn’t inspire a lot of hope. Should a dev respond, I’d be happy to give feedback or test any attempts to get this running the right direction for the betterment of the app and everybody that uses it.
Support page not loading
The support page does not load. In another review, you said there were instructions on your website on how to set up push notification per WFO. How do I do that?
Happy to have this app
Glad to use this app thank
Too many irrelevant notifications
Was looking to see if there was a way to customize notifications to just my location. Read some reviews and the developer gave a website that explains how to do this but the website is expired. I feel like disabling notifications but the defeats the purpose of the app.
Great app, but could use a couple more features.
The app is really cool. One thing that I think should be added is the notifications. For example, <NWS Callsign> issues <weather alert> for <counties>, and so on.
Good app but needs the notifications
I like the app a lot I use it on my phone and on my computer so I can record my EAS alerts but there must be a notification alert for severe weather
Finally! A dev who listens!
The planets mist have aligned, because an app developer actually listened to their audience. We asked for annoying advertisements to be removed, so that potential hazards can be seen firsthand, and you (the dev) responded! This should not be as shocking as it is, but in 2018, nobody really listens to anybody anymore. I cannot thank you enough for actually listening to us customers.
Awesome app after latest upgrade.
THANK YOU for bringing this app to the stellar standards it was before the implementation of ads.
Navigation is WONDERFUL and I can get a lot of information from various sources with one app, the perfect design and functionality of this app.
Thanks again for removing the intrusive ads and resurrecting this app to what it was, an amazing app leading to valuable weather resources not found in other weather apps.
Great job!
Looks like a brand new app that shall be helpful for severe weather season!
