With IRC sunsetting among the masses, it’s nice to see that there’s a few clients still in active development. This is the best one for iOS to date. Some points, - Plenty of options in settings, integrates nicely with bouncers, can port over prior-Igloo config, backup to iCloud (currently manual, hopefully it can be automated in the future). - Dev is open to feedback and feature requests. Can be snarky at times but respectful. - Not another SaaS product, so not another subscription to monitor and mentally juggle. - There’s a discount for those who owned the previous version. Overall, if you’re not cheap and want a quality IRC app, drop a few bucks.
Great support when I emailed with a concern. Very fair price offering both monthly or lifetime. Apps cost money and time to develop, and as long as the value is present, should be rewarded. I feel it’s worth it. And I thank the developer for that. Not everything can be free forever. It’s actually why a lot of apps die or stop being supported.
Folks need to chill out - this is far and away the best irc app available on iOS and good on the dev for trying to make some money back on his time investment - it’s more than a fair deal! *Just one request: please bring back the /ignore command! Cheers!
I liked this app the first time I paid for it. Then the developer purposely broke the old version, released a new one, and demanded payment again. If your new version is improved enough to be worth paying for, prove it by leaving the old one functional for existing paid users. If it’s worth it, we will upgrade, if not, why did you bother with a new version other than a pure cash grab against your loyal customer base?
Obviously the individuals creating this program don’t use it! Give us the ability to ignore users please. Also it won’t remember the theme I select (Black). I have to set it to black everytime I open it. This program needs major work! The one I paid for before it’s one was way better!
ITS A SCAM Doesn’t have ignore feature, doesn’t have ability to type in color, can’t make font bigger than 20 so it’s tiny on phone screen, developer response “I’ve only made enough money to buy a slice of pizza” don’t waste your money find something else, even turboirc has more features and it hasn’t been updated in years, developer got mad when email complaints came in and pulled the older version but not until he pulled all its features. Paid for that one and he pulled it, nothing to say he won’t pull this one after he gets more pizza money. ITS A SCAM Update : went to support and asked questions about it not having a feature and was berated and kicked out of the room, I can see now why it only has 3 stars, I was willing to give it a shot but if the developer is condescending and has a “it’s my app and I do what I want” attitude and berates and allows people to be berated in the so called “support” room what does that tell you? If I could afford the 20$ I now know I wouldn’t pay it FIND ANOTHER, ANY OTHER APP OR PROGRAM
This is the easiest to use DCC irc client for iPhone. Kudos to the developers on the slick look and easy to use UI.
I don't mind the developer charging for a new iteration of an application. What I do mind is the developer going and disabling the old one entirely for people still using it. Someone remotely shutting off your access to an application, especially one you paid for, leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. I would be more understanding if it was an old version that required a lot of continuous server-side support to function, but it's an irc client! Sure, stop supporting the server-dependent features like push notifications, that's fine, but why on earth is it necessary that "This app will stop working entirely on June 1st."?
Why the license was not transferred to new version?
