Terrible customer service& pretty much a scam
They pretty much sold me false products that I cannot use! Couldn’t get refund or cancel contract, and still forced me to pay for the processing fee. I was visiting Japan for a little over a month. I wanted to get eSIM while I was there, so visited Big Camera in Akihabara to purchase eSIM card. An IIJmio representative came up to me and start explaining their eSIM service and told me it takes only 20min to sign up. It seemed a reasonable price so I decided to sing up for it. They kept telling me to click through iPad pages in Japanese. After that they fiddle with my phone and told me I cannot use their service since my phone is not unlocked. Only way to make it work was calling the phone provider that I’m using in my home country and tell them to unclock it. Which it would cost me international calling fee and hours of waiting time. Plus there’s time difference, so it was out of the customer service hours in my home country anyway. I asked them for refund or cancelling my contract, and they told me since I already agreed with singing up on their iPad, it cannot be reverse it. That’s when I realized the buttons that I clicked through on their iPad was my contract agreement. I demand to talk to their customer services but they refused and they told me even if I contact their customer service, they won’t be able to give me a refund or cancel it anyway. (I was at their counter sitting for an hour and half by then) I was about to walk out. And they told me I have to pay for the processing fee for this entire contract! Unbelievable. They should have checked whether my phone was capable of their service before they offered their product and explained more. Pretty much the same method as a scam. Don’t talk to anyone in Big Camera if they try to approach you! My day for Akiahabara sightseeing plan was ruined and experience tuned out really bad. I thought Tokyo, Japan was cool and safe. But my opinion has changed because of IIJmio and their representatives.
