IImprov Reviews

comprehensive and practical

It's hard to believe the little app does provide such comprehensive and practical info for self-learn beginners. "Note to Chord Relationships" is the best part of the app.

Perfect app for my jazz training..

This app is amazing (fundamentals). I was looking for different ear training apps and came across this app. I was stunned as this was everything I wanted and a TON more. The jam a long tracks are awesome. I immediately took a chance and purchased it and am glad I did. I'll be getting the ii-V version next. Im thinking the reviewer who stated that the app had the wrong key didn't realize that you could change the key of the app to the key of your instrument in the settings. I'm playing an alto so I changed mine from C to Eb...

Bravo!

Thanks for the prompt update; I'll be downloading all of your other iImprov apps now- and recommending them to my students, as well.

Now compatible for iOS 6.

Great so far. Better than other theory apps that I've downloaded.

One of the best tutorial apps

Definitely one of the best music tutorial app. Every concept is well explained. Seems that few users have some problem understanding the transposition feature but the mechanism is very simple. This app deserves my highest score! Thank you!

Great app!!!!

I really like the jam along tracks and that you can change the tempo and key. Great tool for learning how to improve. Really concise helpful lessons too!

Very good tutorial app

Downloaded for my son to use in his jazz studies, and I use it to learn some music theory myself. Was a bit concerned at first about transposition problem mentioned in another review, but in looking at the app, I suspect the reviewer failed to use the transpose feature on the app. No problems for us with transposition. Well worth the price.

Wrong key!!

Sam Tielemans on

United States

This was disappointing that all of the ear training stuff and jam-a-long material that this app offers is in the wrong key. The audio doesn't coincide with the notes on the scale that are written. I was working on the interval section of the app and it said it was playing a perfect fifth in C, but in reality it was playing a perfect fifth in the key of F. All of the other keys are wrong and different from the ones that it says it is playing the notes in. So this app is basically obsolete.. Not worth it at all.

Finally, real improv help!!!

On Nom Sunday morning! on

Better on my iPhone than a call from Jamey Abersold!! A clear and concise start to improv with a modest requirement of prior knowledge. Sound bites are very relative and useful. I've checked out all the JAM-A-LONGS and playing examples. Everything works well and loops smoothly. Tempo range is appropriate for any situation and level. Transposition for other instruments works perfectly and all menus have a simple, logical layout. Not visually flashy (certainly doesn't need to be) but works exactly as you would want it to. I'll be investing in their other products and enjoying the value. You could spend way more money on products that are only marginally useful and really regret it after you check out this collection of apps. Great work and thanks to ilmprov!!!
