تاسس مصرف الشرق الاوسط العراقي للاستثمار في عام 1993 بعد ان حصل على شهادة التاسيس من وزارة التجارة/ دائرة مسجل الشركات واجازة الصيرفة من البنك المركزي العراقي. وباشر اعماله المصرفية بتاريخ 8/5/1994 براس مال مقداره 400 مليون دينار. واما الان فان راس مال المصرف المسجل والمدفوع فعلا 250 مليار مرتفعا بـ 625 ضعفا عما كان عليه عند التاسيس, وتمت هذه الزيادات من خلال رسملة الارباح السنوية والقسم الاخر مدفوع من حملة الاسهم منذ تاسيس المصرف.
هذا وقد حاز مصرفنا على المرتبة الاولى ممتاز (1C) من بين المصارف العراقية الخاصة حسب نظام CAMEL العالمي لاربعة سنوات متتالية (2007-2008-2009-2010) و حصل على تصنيف 3A في عام 2017، كما ان للمصرف دائرة غسل الاموال و تمويل الارهاب وفقاً للقانون المرقم 93 لسنة 2015 وتعليمات البنك المركزي العراقي، كما حصل مصرفنا على مرتبة (B+) ضمن تقييم البنك المركزي العراقي من ناحية التزام المصرف للقواعد و معايير الامتثال الخاصة بمكافحة غسل الاموال و تمويل الارهاب.
